After catching my cheating boyfriend in the act, I fled home.
Thankfully, my aunt was out when I returned so I could scream my lungs out without any interruption.
I headed to my room and punched the life out of my poor pillow.
Then proceeded to scream into the already dead pillow.
Exhausted I slid down to the cold floor and let the tears slowly run down.
I was angry
Betrayed
Sad
Gideon wasn't the absolute best but I'd began to care for him.
Genuinely.
We had moments.
Why didn't he remember?
We'd planned our future together.
True we weren't fated mates but that didn't mean anything to me.
He made me believe that love could be, with or without being fated mates.
He was a liar.
The bloodiest one at that.
I'd given up moving out and going to college for him.
I'd sacrificed my time
My thoughts
My love
For him!
Fuck him!
Fuck his stupid lying, cheating ass!
And f**k that stupid sucking blonde! I hope she chokes on his d**k and dies!
I was too tired to stay awake thinking that night. I dozed off on the cold polished floor.
****
Somehow I'd gotten through that week of betrayal.
Always being indoors and watching movies till I slept off.
I'd cried a few more times.
But I was brave enough to say I was getting over him, fast.
I thought about my life.
I still had a whole life ahead of me. And sulking over my ex won't make it any better.
The more I thought, the more I realized how wack our whole relationship was.
He was always the one calling the shots.
He always spoke about our future.
‘Our future?!’
It was HIS future.
If he truly cared, he would've put me in the story.
It was always him.
I was just the side piece that only came to light when he was talking about his ‘future pups’!
Funny enough he hadn't even called.
Or dropped a message at least.
No attempt to get in touch or apologize, or try to make amends.
I scoffed.
Well that explains everything.
He didn't care.
I took a calming breath and plugged in my ear phones.
I was heading to the Beta's place.
Which was his parent's home.
They were in full support of our relationship.
And judging from the fact that he hadn't called to make amends, he probably hadn't told his parents either.
A whole week had gone by. They deserved to know that everything was over.
They were nice people.
I knocked softly at their front door and Gracie, their housekeeper answered it.
“Samantha, how lovely to see you” she hugged me gently and ushered me in.
“It's been a while”
“I know Gracie, haven't seen you in a bit”
I noticed the small streaks of grey that was beginning to show in her dark hair.
“Are Beta Patrick and Mrs Julia home?”
“Yes dear. They're having a drink out at the back. Come along”
She reached out to take my small bag from me.
“Oh no. Don't worry about it. I won't stay long”
“Well, okay then”
The Beta and his mate sat sipping wine on their patio.
“Good day” I greeted, approaching them.
“Samantha” Gideon's mom, Julia called out to me.
“Where have you been lately?”
I took a seat some distance from them and faked a smile.
“Try some wine?” Patrick raised a glass to me.
“Oh, no thanks. I'm good” I rubbed my palms together.
He nodded and gulped down the whole glass of red wine.
“How's your aunt dear? I heard she opened another flower shop” Julia smiled at me.
“Yes she did”.
An awkward silence followed.
I took a deep breath.
“Beta Patrick, Julia…me and Gideon aren't together anymore”
I dropped the bomb.
They both stared at me in disbelief.
Then Julia chuckled.
“Oh dear. Did you guys have an argument? A little couple's quarrel?” She reached out to hold my hand.
“I'm afraid it's more than that this time” I kept a straight face.
I was not here for games.
“Listen, whatever disagreement you both had, I'm sure it's not that serious”
“I'm afraid it is-”
“There's going to be a little party at our house this weekend, you and Gideon will be the hosts. Isn't that exciting?”
She nudged Patrick.
“Definitely exciting Sam. You can invite as many friends as you want” Patrick chipped in, stroking his short beard.
My mouth parted in disbelief.
What the actual hell?
“Julia, I know you were in full support of our relationship and-”
“It's okay sweetie” she cut me off “it happens. It really does. Couples argue, and have fall outs and stuff, but you have to move on…together”
I folded my arms and sat straighter.
“Gideon cheated. I caught him”
I waited for the gasps and exclamation.
Patrick smiled.
“Like I said dear, you have to move on” Julia was definitely getting on my nerves.
“Move on? Are you serious? I caught him!
In the act, with TWO other girls!”
“Samantha, calm down”
Julia reached for me again but I pulled away.
What the hell was wrong with everyone?
And what was this ‘calm down’ bullshit I'd been hearing lately?!
“I've made up my mind Julia, I can't-”
“You're going to break his heart Samantha”
I was going to break his heart?
Was she joking?!
What about my heart?!
HE broke mine!!
“Gideon loves you so much. More than you know Sam. You're going to ruin everything if you keep being like this”
I turned to Patrick.
Maybe there was an atom of sanity in him. ‘Cause Julia had obviously lost it.
“Gideon cheated. He broke my trust-”
“And he's sorry” Patrick folded his arms.
Well, that proves it.
They were both crazy.
“How do you know he's sorry? He hasn't even called to say so!”
“That's because he's just so sad Sam. He's been down lately. And I've been wondering what the problem is.
Now this explains it”
I scoffed.
“He doesn't want to lose you Sam. Think about the good memories.
The times you both spent together. Do you really want to throw it away over a small issue?”
A small issue.
A SMALL issue.
A SMALL ISSUE.
Her words rang like bells in my brain. Was she kidding me?!
She was discarding my words like it meant nothing.
Did she miss the part where I said he cheated?
Yeah I was done.
I was disappointed. I expected better from Julia.
Patrick? Not so much.
“I should be heading home now” I took a deep calming breath and smoothed down my shirt.
“Okay dear”
I rose from my seat and picked my bag. Julia rose too.
“Good night Patrick”
“Night Sam”
I headed to their front door but Julia gently stopped me and took both of my hands in her own.
“Think about what I said okay? You both have come too far for you to mess this up. Be a good girl and give Gideon some time.”
I said
nothing in response and pulled away.
“Say hi to your aunt okay?”
I walked away faster.
“And don't be late to the party this weekend!” She called after me
I fought the urge to slam their front door on my way out.
