Chapter 4 - Saying goodbye.

Selene POV I used almost all the energy that the moon granted me and took part of Asteria’s aura as well, to transport all three of us on Earth. I chose one of the oldest human civilizations I could think of. We landed in the middle of dessert, Endymion holding our unconscious Little Star in his arms. This travel took a toll on her body, not being used to that amount of energy being released from her, she blacked out. Maybe that's for the best, I can't watch her misery. I flopped on the sand and hid my face in my hands. “I should have listened to her! She told us she doesn't want to go, that she has a bad feeling about this. Why? Why we forced her to go?” “Selene, stop it. Its not your fault, not ours fault. It's all on Ares and Zeus! You are not responsible for their sick ego!” Endymion gently laid Asteria on the ground and hugged me tightly. “We didn't know that something like that could happen. We knew that they have no respect towards mates bond, but they accepted those who wanted their mates. Look at Helios or Eos, they are waiting for their mates to be born and no one is forcing them into anything! We couldn't predict that.” “I am not gonna let Asteria marry that brute! He is violent, bloodthirsty, ruthless! I would never pair Asteria with him! Hells, I wouldn't wish that fate upon any other soul.” I shrugged as a very strong feeling of disgust shook me to my core. “We are not letting this happen. We will hide her, not let anyone take her from us and when her mate is born and after they mate she will be able to grow to her full potential.” “It's not gonna work.” We snaped our heads right to Asteria, as we heard her weak voice. “Asteria! Baby, I'm sorry, I had to take some of your powers to transport us.” “Mom, easy, it's fine. I'm a little weak but fine. It's better this way, there is no way i'm going to accept Ares.” “We won't let that happen.” Endymion said as we both held one of her hands. “We are going to hide, here on Earth.” “No daddy, it wont work. Hecate knows my powers, my aura. She can locate me wherever I go. They will track us and force me into this, you won't be able to protect me forever. You are going to be in danger too.” “It doesn't matter sweetheart, We are going to protect you with our lives.” I held her face in my hands as crying took over me completely. “You are our everything!” “Mother no. Who will pair souls if you are gone? I have to go by myself, i won't put everyone soulmates in jeopardy because of me.” “There is a way…” Endymion looked down at his hands, looking hurt. “But it's not a perfect solution either.” “I know what you are thinking dad, the only way for being hidden that long is death…” “What?! No, Asteria, there has to be a way!” I cried out grabbing her into a bone-crushing hug. “I won't let you die!” “Not literally Selene. I can put her to sleep so deep it would remind death. No one will be able to sense her powers this way. She is drained of powers right now, they won't locate her but we have to work fast” I pulled myself together. They are right, if there is any chance for Asteria to be able to hide it's this. They won't be able to locate mine or Endymions aura but as Asteria will get her powers back they can find her. I stood up and asked the moon for guidance, everywhere that the moon's shine reaches I will be aware of. After a short while I found a perfect place. “Let’s go, I found the right place.” I said and we marched into darkness. Asteria POV So this is it, right after my 19th birthday I have to go. I felt tear slowly falling from my eye. I quickly wiped them, it's hard enough for my parents, they don't have to see me cry. So i sat there, in my beautiful black robes watching as my parents constructed pedestal that I'm going to lie on along with whole burial chamber, I guess if I have to die I'll get to do that with style, worth at least a king's grave. The pedestal was made from beautiful, black marble with soft, deep purple bedding made from silk. I guess my back won't suffer during my sleep. “How long do you think I should stay low? When will you wake me up?” I asked mom as she willed Moon orchids to grow around my catafalque. Aren't they going to die here? “They are going to stay fresh for the entirety of your sleep.''She explained, sensing my next question." I don't think we should be the ones to wake you up. We will leave it to fate.” I raised my eyebrows at that. Fates? “What do you mean by that?” Father came to inspect mom's work. He was hiding the entrance outside. “I think the best way is to cast your spell together with mine. I can alter her sleep and put a waking spell on the pedestal. After her mate is born and strong enough to help her withstand Ares, he will have visions of this place so he can find you and wake you up.” She said, turning her attention to me. “We don't know for how long Ares's obsession with you is going to last, the safest way is to bond with your mate before your powers can fully develop. Hecate won't be able to locate you if enough time passess. After that only strong outburst of your power may make them find you.” “So when I wake up I can use my powers? Only avoid the strong spells?” “Yes i believe that will be enough.” They both looked at me with pained expressions. I knew its time. I hugged them tightly and slowly went up the stairs to my bedding. I lied down and my parents stood at both sides of the catafalque. I smiled at them. “It's okay, it's not final goodbye, we will see eachother again. I love you.” “We love you to Little Star, we will wait for you forever.” Mom petted my cheek and choked back tears. I watched them casting their spells as light around me started to fade. Last thing I saw before my eyes closed was my parents crying faces. “I love you.” I whispered and fell into nothingness. Endymion POV We stood there, over our daughters body and cried silently. Without words Selene raised her hands again and slowly a clear coffin made of diamond appeared over Asteria’s body. While she did that I made sure that the waking spell is written in multiple languages and symbols. We don't know when or where her mate will be born, Selene thinks that we shouldn't mess with Fates and not search for her mate’s soul. There is one for her and we have to wait until it's their time to meet. “We failed her Endymion, we failed our little girl! What kind of parents can't protect their child?” Selene wailed leaning on Asteria’s coffin. I grabbed her arms and shook her delicately. “We didn't fail her! This is us protecting her. This is the best we could do for her. Failing her would be giving up and letting Ares have her! We did what had to be done.” I cradled her in my arms as she cried her soul out. After a few more minutes we stood up, said our goodbyes and we left the tomb. Hiding entrance and any possible trace of our presence. With just the two of us it would be easy to hide, we will wander the Earth realm the way we did before. We will be waiting for the day that our daughter can return. No matter how long it's going to take.
