Chapter 2

LYRA My world had shattered. I could feel my heart thud heavily in my chest, could feel my head begin to pound. I could even feel my hands shake. I had been in such a hurry that I had left my bag in there. Thank goodness I still had my phone in my hands. What had I done to deserve such betrayal? I mean, I had been the perfect girlfriend to him. Given him my time, body, and even my soul. What else did he want? My eyes burned, and I quickly wiped off the tear that was threatening to fall. Anger flowed through me like blood through my veins. "Lyra! Wait, Please!" His voice which would have been sweet to my ears now sounded like metal, grinding on metal. I shivered in disgust as images popped up in my head from what I had just seen. Lucas had cheated on me. Me. I increased my pace, running towards my personal dressing room as the hallway was getting a bit crowded. I had to hide. I had to hide until the auction started, and then I would leave. "Lyra!" "Leave me the f**k alone, you piece of s**t!" I spat, not looking behind me to see just how close he was as I pushed open my dressing room door and went in. I tried to slam the door shut before he would reach, but Lucas was fast. He blocked it with his big body and pushed his way inside. "Lyra please listen to me." Raw guilt took over his handsome face. A face I loved to look at, now only made me feel disgust. How could I look at him now without seeing him on top of her? "Listen to what, Lucas? You just f****d my cousin, right before my very eyes. You f****d her on the same desk you made love to me on, just yesterday!" Bitterness racked through me. I pushed away from him, and went to stand in the corner where I focused on catching my breath and trying not to cry. This was... This was the most heart wrenching thing I had ever gone through. "I'm sorry, Lyra. I swear I don't know what came over me..." Lucas explained, standing in the spot I had left him, while his almond eyes were trained on me. I could see them glisten and only laughed at how ridiculous he looked. He didn't have the right to cry. "You don't know what came over you? You had her under you for heaven knows how long, and you are saying you don't know what came over you! What came over you is that you f****d my cousin!" I yelled, gesturing at him. "Lyra I_you were not even supposed to be here. Heck you are not even supposed to be here right now!" Lucas yelled back, taking two steps closer asbi saw something in his eyes that I had never seen before. But his words got to me more. "What did you just say? You mean, you planned this, all along? How long have the two of you been together?!" Hell! Fucking hell! The way he said it... Lucas looked away. But not before I saw just what I wanted to see. "Go home, Lyra. We will talk about this later." His voice was suddenly too calm. Too calm that I felt a small shiver run through my spine. God, it hurt. It hurt so much. I had given everything to this man. I mean, I would have expected this from the men in the club, but not Lucas. Rachel had warned me.. "You have no right to order me around, now Lucas. We are over. From the moment you decided to do that to me, we were over. So please get out!" I hissed, and collapsed on the floor, holding my phone in my hand and willing he would just do what I asked. I wanted to be alone. "Lyra_" whatever he was going to say, was interrupted by his phone which rang loudly, filling the room which was somewhat quiet. Lucas gestured at me to keep shut whole he answered the call. I scoffed. Like I wanted to say anything to him in the first place. "I know we are about to start...what do you mean one girl is missing...look I will be right there...fuck!" He pocketed his phone and gave me a look. "Go home, Lyra. I will send someone down in ten minutes, and if you are still here...." And then he left. How words hanging in the air. I flinched when the door shut loudly, then buried my head in between my legs. Just when I finally got to trust again, I was betrayed, and by the last people I would ever have expected to do such to me. I and my cousin may not have been close, but she was still family. And of all the women in the club or at ven outside, he chose her. I didn't need a seer to tell me that this was not the first time. Tears flowed freely from my eyes as I dialed the number of the one person I could call in such distress. "Lyra, I was supposed to call earlier to tell you I won't be coming home...." Rachel's voice trailed off when she heard me sniff and sob. "Lyra, what happened?' her tone which had been filled with excitement, changed into that of concern almost immediately. I sobbed again rubbing a hand on my chest as I tried effortlessly to dull the pain I was feeling and come up with the words I needed to say. "Rachel... Rachel...he.." another sob escaped me. "He cheated. I walked in on him and Kayla." The moment the words left my lips, something cold gripped me. "Wait ....what! Oh tell me it's a joke!" Rachel answered. In the background, I could hear her fumble around and immediately perked up. "You don't need to come, I will take care of myself, enjoy your night with you boo, he deserves it." I immediately said, hoping she didn't do the opposite. "That's not acceptable, Lyra. He would be very much interested in driving me down there!" Oh she wasn't bluffing. He did her bidding. Just like I thought Lucas did. "Don't worry...just stay where you are, I'm already leaving." I lied, eyeing my closet which winked at me with the new sets of dresses that had just been put there. "I caught him with Kayla, Rachel. And they were doing it right there, on his desk." My voice was weak. The sobbing had stopped, and I immediately stamped down on the images that flashed through my mind, threatening to bring about another round of sobbing. Rachel cursed loudly. "Oh I'm going to kill her?" "Why kill her, when I can kill him instead." I mused, still looking at the dresses. A red one stood out to me. I sniffed and tried to get up, walking towards the dress. Rachel made a sound. "Why do I feel like what you just said has a meaning behind it?" She asked, her tone laced with suspicion. I shook my head, frowning genuinely like she could see me. "What are you talking about, Rachel? I'm just agreeing with you." I reached for the dress, testing the material between my fingers. So soft... A thought began to form in my mind. "Hmm...what are you going to do now, then? I mean you obviously have ended things with him, right?" I scoffed, pulling the dress out of the hanger so I could get a good look at it. "Of course. Oh I will show him hell, Rachel. But for now, I have something I really need to do. I'll call you later. Bye, I love you!" I hurriedly said, and once she replied, hung up. I knew she was going to talk me out of it if I ever told her what I wanted, but like hell was I going to miss and opportunity to take my revenge on Lucas. Hopefully, the last girl really did stand them up, or I was going to be killed by either my boyfriend, or Rachel. Ex boyfriend. Hah! I mean they would both murder me after, even if it pulled through. Excitement rushed over me as I looked for a matching shoe, stockings, and mask. Tonight was already full of surprises. One more, wasn't going to hurt anyone. Although this particular surprise was aimed at hurting and driving a certain person crazy.
