7 FAY I was being pulled into all directions, invisible forces tearing me apart. I screamed as pain unlike anything I’d ever felt assaulted my body. The scream was swallowed by the mist surrounding me. Just when I thought I’d pass out from the pain and the pulling, the tension lessened and reversed. The pull became a push. A different kind of pain, no less intense. Instead of being torn apart, I was now crushed, squeezed into a mould I didn’t fit into. My throat was hoarse from the soundless screams that I couldn’t repress. Agony was all I was. Pain was my existence. Had there been a life before the suffering? I didn’t know how long it lasted.
