The report arrives at half past eight in a folder so thin it seems insufficient for what it contains.
Marcus, his lead financial analyst, sets it on the desk without ceremony and stands back with the posture of a man who has delivered difficult news before and has learned not to stand too close to it. He is young for the role, precise in his work, and not given to interpretation. These are the qualities Caden selected him for.
"Walk me through it," Caden says.
Marcus opens to the first page.
"The shell company is registered in the name Verel Holdings. No associated personal names on the public filing. Incorporated—" he pauses, just briefly, "—on the fourteenth of March, three years ago."
