'Nyssa, you need to come down now or you'll be late!' said princess Nadia through her daughters open door who screamed back, 'COMING MUM' as she shut the door. The princess chuckled as she walked across the hall to the room opposite her daughter's and tapped gently before opening.
'Nicara I hope you are...,' she stopped abruptly as she found the beautiful teenage girl dressed in dark blue jeans paired with a blue plaid buttoned down shirt and inner white tee shirt and blue vans on the floor of her room, crying as she stared at the picture of the woman who had raised her since childhood- grandma Ellis. Princess Nadia walked in closing the door and sat beside her also looking at the picture which showed Grandma Ellis laughing heartily as she hugged both Nicarra and Nyssa who hugged her back with their mud stained hands and clothes. The picture was taken when the girls were five, and Elder Ellis took them both to on a trip to a farm.
'I miss her, I miss her so much,' said Nicarra.
'I know, I miss her too,' replied the crown princess hugging Nicarra.
It's all my fault,' Nicarra said, admist tears.
'Nicara, stop blaming yourself. It was not your fault. It was an attack, and Grandma Ellis made a choice to protect you.'
'I...I am scared, I... am...scared princess Nadia... that...if...if I leave...I won't see her again. I... won't be...able... to tell her... I'm sorry,' sobbed Nicarra.
'Look at me, Nicarra,' said the princess as she held up Nicarra's chin. The teenager looked at her with her unique coloured eyes of violet with specks of green. Even with swollen eyes and a reddened face, she still looked breathtakingly beautiful with her beautiful tanned skin, long brown hair with flecks of silver, heart-shaped lips, and beauty spot just above her cheek bone.
'My dear, grand ma Ellis wouldn't want you thinking like this. What people say or think about you isn't as important as what you say or think about yourself.
Grandma Ellis sacrificed herself to protect you out of love and duty so you could be safe. I am pretty sure she was the one who used her authority to gain this scholarship for you.
Remember when you were ten years old and she insisted on throwing you your thirteenth birthday party. Everyone thought she was crazy, but that's just how my mother is. Refusing to go to this school doesn't honour her sacrifice.'
Nicarra wanted to talk but was silenced by the princesses raised hand.
'She isn't in any danger currently, her vitals are fine and I'm sure that any moment soon she will wake up and come back to us. Do you think she would be happy knowing you refused to live your own life because of the fear of her death?'
Nicarra shook her head, sniffling.
'If she were here, what do you think she would say?'
'Thank God, free at last.' said Nicarr, exaggerating her grand mother's thin voice and mimicking her hand mannerisms. Both her and the princess burst into laughter.
A knock was heard, and Nadias husband walked through the door. His smiling face turned into a frown upon seeing Nicarra in tears.
'Nadia, is everything alright?', he asked in concern.
'Everything is fine, my love. Shee just misses her grandmother,' Nadia responded, caressing Nicarras hair. The prince calmed down and walked towards the bed.
'Grandma Ellis will be fine, she has the best doctors looking after her and they all assure us she is out of danger and will up in no time, so don't cry', the prince said to her and Nicarra nodded.
The prince took his hand from behind his back and brought out a wrapped gift, which he handed to his wife.
'You forgot to give our daughters their gifts', he said tenderly to his wife, who smiled sheepishly as she collected the bag from him.
She handed the gift to Nicarra, saying, 'This is a gift from your father and I. Nyssa has an identical one as well. I am sure you will love it, but you are not to open it until you reach your dorm. Okay?'
Nicarra nodded in excitement as she received her gift and hugged Nadia after she placed it in her bag.
'Hey, where is my hug?' the prince asked, and Nicarra laughed as she got up to hug him as well.
'Thanks, Uncle', she said to him.
'Silly girl, dad not uncle. Now wash your face and get ready for school. You wouldn't want to be late for your first day in college, would you?' said the prince, pinching Nicarra's nose. He took his mate's hand and they both walk out of the room.
The princess stopped at the door and turned back looking at Nicarra, who sat on her bed, placing the picture in her open bag.
'Nicarra' she called, and the teenager turned to look at her.
The princess smile, saying, 'I know this will be the first time that you will be going outside of the siren territory, and there is a possibility that you will meet old acquaintances from the coven. Do not let their words get to you. I have made special reservations to keep you away from them, but if anyone attacks you, you call me immediately. Do you understand?'
Nicarra nods in understanding, looking at her guardians.
'Nadia, why dont we jut gove them body guards like o suggested? I can have personal body guards assigned to the girls to keep your mind at ease', Rhesus says.
Nadia shakes her head, saying , 'No darling, I want the girls to have the best experience at the SOME. I want them to have friends and maybe even fall in love,' Nadia responded.
Darling. we are sending the girls to give them, quality education not fratenize with the opposite s*x', her husband responded.
'Says the man who arrived with six concubines', Nadia responded.
'Uncle, you had six concubines?' Nicarra asked
'Your aunt is exaggerating dear', her uncle said.
'The first time we met, you were naked in a pool', Nadia teased.
'And you gawked at me the entire time,' Rhesus responded confidently.
'Really? Because the way i remember it, you were chasing me around like a lost puppy,' Nadia responded.
'That's because you had me wrapped around your spell', he responded seductively, kissing her.
'Ewwww, gross', Nicarra said
'That's our cue to leave', Rhesus said, making Nadia laugh.
Nicarra wiped away stray tears as her guardians walked out of the room with her husband saying, 'Hurry up, I will be sending the servants in ten minutes to carry your bags.
