Chapter 4

1644 Words
An arm was slung over my shoulder. “Don’t worry about Ren. He’s like that when he’s around things he wants to protect and humans aren’t his favorite thing ever.” It was the same guy who was bouncing off of the walls earlier. It's like he always smiling, like he’s permanently happy. “I’m Hunter and we should probably hurry and get your bag so Ren doesn’t get even more pissy.” We start walking to go get my bag and I can already tell that Hunter is going to be my favorite one out of these four. I mean my mate should be my favorite but right now he is not because he’s stupid. As we walk, I notice that they put themselves into a formation around me and Hunter is no longer leading us. It’s the one who just looks like he hates the world. His head is shaved and he has a scar that runs from the middle back of his head and down to beneath his shirt. Hunter is to my right and to my left is the smallest one of the four. He’s quiet and he just looks like he has no emotion in him at all. Like nothing fazes him. . . . We walk into the parking lot after we get my bag. I wasn’t allowed to carry for some stupid reason which makes me mad. We walk up to this big black truck and we just stand around waiting for my mate I guess. “How much longer are we going to wait?” I was getting impatient. “As long as it takes.” I’m not about to just sit here and wait forever. I’m going to go and find him and bring his ass back here. I grabbed my bag and threw it into the bed of the truck and started walking off towards the end of the parking lot. “Where do you think you’re going? You’re going to piss him off even more if you are not here when he comes back.” “I’ve waited long enough. I’m bringing the lughead back.” I took off running smelling for his scent. I know that I said that I didn’t want a mate but he still is my mate nonetheless. He needs me and I can’t just turn my back to him. We are connected. Forever. It didn’t take me long to find his scent. His trail brought me to a thick patch of trees and I saw him standing there with his hands pressed against a tree with his head down. He was shirtless and I couldn't look away. I wanted to memorize all of the muscles in his shoulders and back. It was probably a good minute of me just staring at him before he realized that I was there. Our eyes connected and I was forever trapped. His gaze held me captive. I’ve never seen eyes quite like his. So many shades of green and blue, each separated. Like a web of colors that has so much depth. I want to explore every crevice and know everything there is to know about them. He strides over to me looking still kind of mad but also with another expression that I couldn’t really explain. It was almost the same as the one I’ve seen other mates give each other when they first meet. So if he’s almost in awe does this mean he’s not pissed? He stops when we are inches away from touching and he just stares at me and the silence is making me feel uncomfortable. Why isn’t he saying anything? You don’t just walk up to someone and not say anything. “So um can we leave now? I want to get as far away from the airport as possible.” Out of awkwardness I just said this even if it was true I wanted to get far away from the death trap that flies in the sky. He laughs at me. Like actually laughs. And everything about him changes. He no longer looks like he did in the airport nor does he look like he’s still mad. “You’re amazing.” He wraps his arms around me and buries his face in my neck and just takes my scent in for awhile. My body is literally going nuts. We’re hugging and I know that we can’t get much closer than this but I needed to get closer. I have to get closer. I pulled him tighter and I run my hand up his back and into his hair. His hair was long enough that it met his forehead and he looked at me and it just sent shocks through my core. “This isn’t the time nor place for you to do that. Wait till we get home.” He then grabbed my hand and basically dragged me back to the truck. The other boys were just standing by the truck just like I left them. Hunter was the first to spot us and he gave us an all knowing smirk. “Just couldn’t wait to we at least got home, could we?” He opened the truck doors and climbed in the backseat with the smallest brother. “Shut up, nothing even happened. You would smell it if something did.” My mate got in the driver's seat and put his shirt back on. My face got red with what my mate just said. It’s not like I’m embarrassed to talk about that kind of stuff because I used to joke around with Kai about it. We all fill the truck along with it came silence. The only this making it awkward is my thoughts I’m pretty sure. I was stuck in the b***h seat between my mate who drove and Mr. I hate the world. Hunter sat in the backseat singing obnoxiously loud to every song that came on the radio, despite Ren changing the station after a couple of seconds. “Will you please shut the f**k up before i rip the damn radio out and throw you out the window with it,” Ren slams him hand into the power button and I’m surprised that it didn’t break with the amount of forced used. “You’re just jealous of my lovely singing,” I caught a glance of Ren rolling his eyes. A very human behavior and very non monstrous manner that gave me some relief to know that all the concerns were true, not yet anyway. “You’re just probably scared that your mate will like me more than you.” With that last comment, Hunter wrapped an arm around me and I could feel that the whole mood changed and I was scared. With widened eyes I look over at Ren as Hunter just giggled like he was just pulling some harmless prank. As harmless as it may seem to outsiders looking in it is quite the opposite. To very dominant males who have just found their mates and have yet claimed them in anyway that was a challenge, a threat. Ren’s knuckles turned white immediately and veins started to bulge. His scent became stronger and his eyes shifted to black. The truck slammed to a stop and Ren roared. I have heard angry roars before but none like this. As soon and the truck stopped moving Ren was already out and ripped Hunter from his seat. “You better take your f*****g time walking home. Just be glad I’m giving you that option.” His voice was steady and low and I could easily see the heat pour out from his body. And with his words Hunter hung his head and started walking and the other two simultaneously got out of the truck and walked along with Hunter, giving us space so Ren could calm down without feeling a threat to me or of me leaving him for someone else. After they walked a ways away, I climbed out of the truck and approached with caution. I’m not entirely sure how he’s gonna react. Is he the type to just let sit and wait till he’s cooled down or is it okay if I talked to him? “Ren, can we go home now?” My words are slow and quiet, not wanting to upset him more. He engulfs me in his arms and stays there for a little while before saying anything. “I like it when you ask to go to our home. Meaning that you plan on staying and not leaving me.” “Oh you dumbbutt, you act like I could leave.” I hear him softly chuckle. “Well two things: one, you’re cute but if you ever call me one of your little nicknames outside of our private talks I will not be very pleased, and two, I am going to love you forever.” he holds me tighter to him. “Well a couple of things: one, I will call you whatever during whenever I see fit, two, you will like it and not complain about it, and three I’m ready to eat and to take a nap.” “We’ll work on the first two but for now, I will bring you home.”
