A GOOD CHANGE IN PERSONALITY

I found out every single detail on the net about my company and my step-sister, Lexi Hummings. She was still single and was successfully running the company. She was everywhere on social media. Since childhood, she liked to be in limelight, so it was not new for me. She always liked to show herself more charming and attracted than me. She never missed an opportunity to show me that she was much better than me.

I came to know that after my disappearance, my father felt sick and soon, he got bedridden. Doctors tried so hard to know the disease but didn’t come up with any name. According to them, it was a rare disease. I didn’t buy this theory. My father was a health freak. He had his monthly, half-yearly and yearly medical check-ups as per schedule. There was nothing till that year. Something was fishy here. I decided to look into this matter later. I needed to talk with someone trustworthy regarding his death but didn't know whom to approach right now. 

Today, I was joining the office back. Though Nicholas met me every day, still I was hell nervous. I went to some official meetings with my dad and also was in a good position in the company and didn’t do the job as P.A. I didn’t know a single thing about this. Above all, I was still learning the techniques and grabbing every knowledge Andrea had. What if someone had any suspicion on me? I didn’t want someone to notice any change in myself.

I reached office on time and went straight to my office. It was next to Nicholas’s room. Our office was on the top floor of the building. I had done my homework in the last few weeks about Nicholas, his company, and the areas in which his company deals. Andrea’s memories also helped in gaining more knowledge about them. Andrea had a photogenic memory and I was impressed and in love with my girl. Now, we were one, so it was my duty to keep her memory intact.

“Good Morning, Andrea”, a blonde girl of short height around 5” greeted me from behind the cubicle near the elevator and I smiled while searching Andrea’s memory for her.

“Good Morning, Lily… how are you”, I recalled her name. She was an assistant in the accounts department and had joined the company 2 years ago. She was a simple girl and very friendly.

“It’s really good to see you again. When I heard about the accident, I was so scared for you”, she looked concerned and I nodded in acknowledgement. I guess, today I had to receive this kind of special treatment from everyone.

“Thanks for the concern, Lily. It really matters to me”, her eyes widened in surprise on my response and I went on alert mode. Did I say something wrong?

“Wow… you changed”, she exclaimed and my heartbeat increased.

“What change?” I looked nervously at myself from bottom to up for anything wrong but found none. Everything was perfect as per Andrea’s memory.

“There is nothing about your appearance, Andrea”, she chuckled and I said only oh….

“I am not saying that you were a little rude before, but you are talking so nicely. It’s really a good change”, I exhaled in relieve. It seemed that I needed to work hard on appearance as Andrea. I couldn’t show any trait of Stella here.

“I think it’s a good chance”, I said while putting a finger under my chin as if I was thinking hard. I looked at her and we both burst into the laughter.

“Please don’t mind my words but if this is the side effect of your accident, then I can say that it was for the best. I really like this version of Andrea more” she praised me after our laughter fits and gave me her genuine smile.

I smiled her back and then headed towards my office. I went inside and sat down on my chair while blowing my breath out that I was holding for so long. It was really a close call. According to Andrea’s memories, Lily was a kind of careless girl who didn’t watch so close to anyone. If she noticed a certain change in my behaviour, then there was a possibility for others too. I must be careful… very… very careful.

I started the system and settled myself in Andrea’s office. Now it was my office. I scanned the whole office and found that both Andrea and I had the same taste in some terms. That what I also noticed before, such as liking towards various foodstuffs, clothing, our tastes in arts and decoration. The office was a little cosy and I liked this.

I started going through the mails. As per Andrea’s memories, I needed to sort out the mail for him. There were several mails. I started reading them one by one. Andrea was missing for more than 7 months from this place. I needed to get all the information regarding renewal process of some business contracts, information on any new project or business deal that had signed or we got in those months etc……

It took an hour to sort all mails that I received yesterday and today. I decided to go through the whole mailbox later. There were several mails but one mail gained my attention. It was from Tips & Toes. My heart started beating fast while looking at the company logo and name. This mail was from The Operation Head of the company. I opened the mail and went through the body of the mail.

It was about some business opportunity that both companies representatives were discussing from the past 4 months. As far as I know, both the companies dealt in different companies. I wondered What made them work together?

It seemed that destiny is with me now. I was looking for ways how to reach her and destiny gave me this opportunity. I needed to know every detail of this business deal.

“Hey”, suddenly my door opened and a brunette with deep brown eyes popped her head inside my office. I was startled due to this sudden invasion.

“O My God, Timothy…. You gave me a heart attack”, I screamed on her while patting my chest lightly above the heart.

She didn’t say anything but grinned and came inside without my permission. She almost ran towards me while having teary eyes and stood up in confusion. Now, what was this?

She hugged me tightly and I instantly hugged her back. It had so warmth that I drowned in it. In my past life, I missed this kind of affections on several occasions. She sobbed while hugging me tightly.

After a while, she pulled away from me and slapped on my arm so hard that I yelped in pain.

“Ouch Tim… what’s wrong with you?” I frowned while rubbing my hurting arm.

“It serves you better. You almost killed me when I heard about the accident, you know”, she started sniffing again and I rolled my eyes. I came to know that she was Timothy, Andrea’s best friend and colleague. She is also a sensitive type of girl. I wondered how many sensitive people Andrea had around her when she was herself a strong head.

I gave her a side hug while passing a napkin to her. She wiped her tears and then looked at me with so much in pain in her eyes. It really hurt me to see her in pain.

“Tim….I am alright now… See”, I moved a little away from her and pointed towards me to show her that I was perfectly fine now.

She looked at me weirdly and then took round around me. “Woah…. They amend you very good”, she said while looking at my body weirdly. I was confused now. What did it mean?

She sensed my confusion and rolled her eyes. “Look at you, girl. You were skinny before. Now you have a right amount of flesh at the right places that are making you hot”, she pressed on the last word while making a dramatic face. She was so Timothy…..
