Claire woke up groggy and confused. Thankfully her migraine was gone. She was surrounded by blackness and silence. Glancing around the room she searched for a clock and then realized her phone was still in the pocket of her jeans. She couldn't believe it - the time was 3:30 in the morning! She had fallen completely asleep with all her clothes on, and had missed dinner and whatever else Trad had planned.
She was thankful to have missed dinner with Trad, his sister Emily and Liam, their child. She wondered if Emily was his step-sister, not that that would have made her feel any better, but she assumed that Liam would have been born with some genetic defects if he was the offspring of pure siblings. The child had looked and acted seemingly normal, with no visible signs of any problems. C
