Book 2 Chapter 23

1183 Words

POV: Angel The shop was quieter than usual that afternoon, the kind of stillness that made every creak of the floorboards feel louder than it should. I didn’t mind, though. It gave me a chance to catch up on some overdue paperwork, my head buried in receipts and order forms. The soft jingle of the bell over the door broke the silence, and I looked up, half-expecting another regular customer. But it wasn’t. It was Leo. His presence filled the room the moment he stepped inside, his dark suit perfectly tailored, his movements precise and deliberate. He looked out of place among the cheerful bouquets and pastel decorations, but somehow, he didn’t seem to mind. “Back again?” I teased, setting down my pen. He smirked, the kind of faint, almost reluctant smile that seemed so natural on him.
