The sun streams through the window as I sit on the edge of the bed, my phone resting in my lap. Fabrizio had called earlier, his voice firm but calm as he told me that business was going to keep him out of the house for the next few days. He didn’t go into detail, but I know better than to ask. His world is one of secrets and shadows, and I’ve learned to navigate it without demanding answers he’s not ready to give.
