CHAPTER 9; THE START OF SOMETHING

“I-I…” I have no words, she caught me off guard, she at up straight. “So, your chickentenders?” She asks, I sat in front of her still not believing what just happened. “Why are you so calm about it? When I found out that you were deadflowersbloom I was so shocked, and you’re here so chill about it?! That’s kinda unfair don’t you think?” She giggles from my blabbering, “Well I was sleepy when I found out.” I smiled, I saw her blushing and I knew I was too. “What are you doing here?” She asks, I bit my lip, do I really have to tell her? “To umm…confess?” Her brows raise, she scootched closer to me and kisses my cheek. ‘OH s**t’. I know I was a red, hot tomato at that time. I turned to look at her and she was smiling widely. “I’ll go get us some cookie dough ice cream to celebrate.” I got confused and grabbed her wrist, she looks at me with her beautiful sparkled eyes. “Celebrate what?” She pats my head, “That we finally found each other chickentenders.” She winks at me. I couldn’t control myself, I pulled her into my lap, I looked at her and then slowly look at her lips. I kissed her plumped lips lightly, and surprisingly she kissed back. I pulled away before anything steamy comes in. I knew she was surprise and she stood up quickly. “I-I’ll go get the umm, cookie ice cream dough…” She ran out of the room. Her reaction made me chuckle as I lay on her bed.

*Delilah POV

‘Cookie ice cream dough?! Lilah your such an i***t!’ I said to myself, the secondhand embarrassment I have for myself is on a whole nother level. I quickly went to the kitchen and opened the freezer to see some left-over ice cream from last night. I then remembered what happened I touched my lips and I couldn’t help but squeal. That kiss wasn’t my first kiss though, but my first kiss was definitely him.

*Age 11

My dad threw this big party for my mom’s 40th birthday, and there were only a few kids, there was my cousin Lisa, and my childhood friend Amy. And then of course Axel and Ezekiel, and Cole was there too. His fam is close with mine but I would rarely see him. We were up in my room since it was too crowded outside, we were bored and Ezekiel came back with a bottle of coke. Amy had an idea. “Why don’t we play spin the bottle?” She recommends, and Axel quickly stood up, “Yes!” We sat on the floor forming a circle and we all looked at Zeik who was drinking slowly, he looked at us confused, “Would you hurry up?” Lisa asks, annoyed. “Fine, jeez.” Once he finished drinking, he puts the bottle in the center. “I’ll go first since I drank the whole thing.” Lisa rolls her eyes, “Yeah, yeah whatever.” He spun it and landed on Lisa, she backs away and gags, “You got to be kidding me!” She shouts, we all laughed, and Zeik came close to her, “Come on Isa, its just a game.” He said teasingly, “Shut up butthead!” Axel laughs harder, “HAHAHAHAHA butthead!!” Zeik glares at him, and he stayed shut after that. They finally kissed and they both pulled away. “You’re a horrible kisser.” She said crossing her arms, “Yeah right, like you had better.” I giggled, “My turn!” Said Lisa who wiped her mouth, and it landed on Cole, they kissed, and it was Cole’s turn, and the bottle pointed at me. He made a disgusted look, “I’m not kissing her, sorry.” He said. Was I not kissable? Was I that ugly for him to not want and kiss me? I felt like crying, Amy knew how I felt and caressed my back, she mouthed, “It’s ok.” I tried to hold my tears in, but then Axel suddenly sat in front of me breaking the circle. “I’ll kiss you.” I looked up at him, shocked, he smiles and gave me a peck on the lips. He then sat back at where he was earlier. “Well that was gross.” Cole said, and Amy had enough of it. “Shut up Cole! Don’t be so full of yourself of being the so, called best kisser.” We all laughed.

*Back to the present

I scooped some ice cream in each of our bowls and went back upstairs. I saw him looking at the window smiling, making me smile too. “Here.” I said giving him his ice cream, we both sat down on my bed and it was quiet at first but then I had a question in mind. “When did you find out I was deadflowersbloom?” He chuckles, “At movie night, you left your phone and I chatted you and saw my message on your phone.” I sighed in relief, “Glad I left it there.” I stated, eating the life out of my ice cream, and he laughs, “What?” I asked, and he looks at my mouth and wipes some ice cream of the corner of my lips, he then licked it off his thumb, I got disgusted and slapped his shoulder, “Gross!” He laughs, as I followed, “What? What did I do?!” I couldn’t stop laughing, I was too happy, he pecked my lips and I stopped, he continued. He kissed me, putting aside our bowls of the almost empty ice creams. He pushed me down lightly onto the bed, one of his hands on my waist, he kissed me once again, I put my hands around his neck pulling him closer to me, he then pulled away, “So…are we a thing?” I chuckled and nod, I saw a smile appeared and he kissed me all over, I giggled trying to make him stop. I then got a call. I got up leaving Axel sad, I then saw the caller and it was Mason, I looked up at Axel, and at the phone, ‘Should I answer it?’ I didn’t want to since Axel never really liked him, I hesitated, and he noticed. “Who is it?” He asks walking up to me, he saw who it was and he frowned, he grabbed my phone, “I know what he wants from you, so I’ll take it from here.” He walked to the bathroom and locked it, I rushed to go and eavesdrop.

*Axel POV

I accepted the call, “Hello? Delilah?” I sighed, “Delilah isn’t here right now.” I said, leaning on the sink counter, “Then who is this?” I smirked and took a deep breath before saying, “This is Axel, Lilah’s boyfriend.” I knew he’s jaw dropped, “Your kidding right?” He asks, making me laugh a little. “I would never joke about this Mason.” From the silence I knew he was in shock, “Oh ok then, congrats I guess…” He then ended the call. I sighed in relied, finally he wont bug me and my love.

I walked out of the bathroom and saw in front of me, “Were you eavesdropping?” She denies it, “N-no! The door is just dirty, see?” She said dusting off the non-existing dirt. I hugged her, putting her phone in her back pocket, she hugs me back. “I couldn’t hear anything, what were you guys talking about?” I looked at her and I saw the curiosity in her eyes, I kissed her forehead, “It’s not that important.”

At school; Monday; 10 : 27

I was waiting for Lilah’s exam to be done, looking at my phone and seeing the nickname I gave her in my contacts, ‘Lilac my love’ I smiled just looking at it and I heard the bell ring, the door opened and students flew out of the classroom chitchatting away. Some girls said hi to me as I just waved. Once I saw Lilah, I ran up to her and hugged her, “How was the exam? Did you pass?” She chuckles, “They’re still grading it, but I think the results will be published later afternoon, so fingers crossed!” I pecked her lips and she kissed back, “Ooooh, look at the two lovebirds, how disgusting.” Cole said with Yvette next to him, “Ok so I’m the only single one I guess…” Yvette said crossing her arms, she patted my back and hugged Lilah, “Congrats to you both.” She said still clinging onto Lilah, “Hey why don’t we celebrate? Let’s go to a diner!” She suggests. “No, we are going to the diner, not them.” Cole said emphasizing the ‘we’ Yvette furrows her brows, “What? Why?” Cole shook his head and dragged her away, “Hey! Where are you taking me?! Cole!” I saw them walking away into the distance and I saw Lilah laugh, “Ok, since school is ending early, why don’t we go on our first official date?” I ask, and her eyes shot wide, “With this outfit? No way, pick me up at 5, and just surprise me on where we’re going.” I tilted my head, “You don’t want a planned date?” She shakes her head, “I’m fine with anything, as long as I’m with you.” She winks and kisses my cheek, then she runs out of the school. I laughed of how cute she was, and went out as well.

*Lilah POV

I’m currently waiting for Axel to pick me up, and I feel that my hands are sweating from how nervous I am. I wore a light pink puff-sleeve paneled tweed A-line dress, and some white platform heels to match, I put on a clean girl type of makeup, and straighten my hair and a cute white Breton hat to top it off. I then heard a knock on the door, I quickly opened it and saw Axel in a fancy suit. “Guess where we’re going.” He said handing me a bouquet of lilacs, “Where? And Axel, you didn’t have to buy me this.” I said smelling the lilacs. “We’re going to deli v!” I gasped, deli v is one of the most expensive restaurants in our city, and its famous for its amazing view of the city, where you can enjoy your food and the view. “How did you afford it?” He looked away, shy. “I’ll tell you once we get there, but for now let’s go, cause I got us reservations.” The car ride was quiet but it was one special car ride. We arrived and just by looking at the exterior, I knew this dinner will be great. Axel talked to the front desk about our reservations, and the lady escorted us to the elevator, “Once your up there, someone will bring you guys to your table.” The lady said, with a smile on her face.

We sat down and I took a deep breath, finally relaxing myself from the events of this morning. “Here.” Axel said handing me the menu, I opened it up and looked at my options. I’ve only been here twice and it was with the Wood family 1 year ago, and the other one is when it was my 16th birthday. My all-time favorite dish here is there, deli shrimp-dip. It was already peeled shrimped and it came with a sweet chili sauce, and for the side dish they have these crispy fries, that when you bite into them, you can hear the crunch from a mile away. Latin music was playing and I just felt like I was in cloud 9. “So, have you decided on what you want?” Axel asks, and I nodded. “I want their deli shrimp-dip.” He chuckles, “You always want that.” He said as he pushes the buzzer to bring in the waiter to our table. Once he told the waiter what we wanted, I glanced at the elevator opening, and I saw Evan all suited up. “Its Evan.” I told Axel and he turned around, “Who’s Evan?” I rolled my eyes, “Your kidding right? He’s that really handsome transferee student.” I saw his face got all blue, and he pouted, “What’s wrong?” He looked back at Evan who I think is waiting for someone as he sits at the bar. “You think he’s handsome?” He asks me, I chuckled, “That’s what the girls say, and plus no one can compare on how charming you are.” I wink at him, and I saw his cheeks got pinkish. The elevator opened again, revealing Yvette. I almost stood up by surprise, she looked around and I don’t think she noticed us, she went straight to the bar and had a talk with Evan, it looked like they were flirting, and I saw him kiss her. “No way.” I said in disbelief, “What? What?” Axel said all confused, “Yvette is dating Evan!” He scoffs and I don’t think he believed me, “Now you’re just seeing things- And you are absolutely right, holy shit.” I hesitated before standing up, I was about to go and talk to them, but a hand was holding me back, “Where do you think your going?” Axel asks, “To go and interrogate them?” He stands up as well and pecks my lips, “Don’t you think that we should give them privacy?” I bit my lip, “Fine.” He smiles and makes me sit back down.

We’re in the middle of eating and I couldn’t help but look at the other couple having drinks, “Love, you should really focus and eat your food, and focus on me.” Axel said taking my mind off Yvette and Evan, “I just can’t believe that she didn’t tell me.” I pout, “Ok, maybe this will help.” He pulled out his phone and showed me my nickname in his contacts it said, ‘Lilac my Love’ and I thought my heart just melted, “Aww” I said, “I wanted to show it to you a few hours ago, but Cole interrupted me.” I smiled warmly, but then something came to mind, “Ok wait, you never told me how you afford all this.” I said, and when I mean all this, I mean the reservations. He hesitates, “Ok, so I checked my bank account, because ever since we started dating, I wanted our first date to be special, so I looked at my bank account and guess how much I have, 7,000 dollars” I almost choked, I didn’t want to believe him but I did, “You for real?” He just nods as he took a sip of his water like it was nothing.

We got to the rooftop where you take pictures, and I brought my camera that he gave me, “Let’s take a pic here.” He says walking to the balcony, I hold up the camera and we both pose. A few more pics later I looked at all of the pics we saved, I smiled to myself, I then got a notification, I looked to see it was an email from our school, it was our grades, “Oh s**t! Axel, the grades our out!” He looked at my phone quickly, “Well what are you waiting for? Check your grades!” I looked to see my grades and it was full on 100/100. I squeal, as I jump up and down lightly, hugging Axel as tight as I could, “100/100!” I shouted repeatedly, “I’m proud of you!!” Axel said joining in my excitement. I kissed him on the lips and he just stood there, making me confused, “What’s wrong?” I ask, and he didn’t say anything, he suddenly pulled me closer to him, “There is…it’s so wrong for you to be this cute.” He then took something out of his pocket, I gasped, my hands covering my mouth, it was a corsage, he bit his lip before saying, “Will you go to prom with me?” I kissed his cheek and took the corsage from his hand, “Absolutely…” We hugged for a minute before looking at each other in the eye, and passionately kiss.
