I spent Sunday in my dorm with Amanda, Nadine and Amy, watching movies, eating popcorn, pamper sessions and getting all the gossip I needed to know. The friendship I had built with these girls within a week was unruly. They were really great girls who all had their individual personality but we all blended together so well. Nadine made me promise to show up on Monday to cheerleading try outs, I of course agreed, which brings us to today. I was sat in business studies with the girls, Amanda and Nick were outside the class room while Amy and Nadine we're talking to Josh next to me and Trey was sat at the end of my desk annoying me yet again. Nick wasn't best pleased with Trey for kidnapping me and driving me back but I had a talk with him and made him understand it was nothing and to get over it, also while reminding him that we had a deal, for him not to interfere with my life if I gave him Amanda's number, I kept my end of the bargain up, he needed to do his part.

"You gonna cheer for your boy then, Parkes?" He said with a cocky smirk on his face.

"Who? Drew? Yeah probably."

I knew exactly who he meant.

"That's okay, I got Nadine to cheer for me ain't I, Nad?" He called out to Nadine.

"Boy, you wish." Nadine snapped back.

I couldn't help but giggle at her turn down.

"You make it too easy, Lake."

"You certainly don't. I didn't get one text from you all weekend." He said pretending to sulk.

"Maybe that's because I was busy."

"Busy?" he questioned me.

"Yeah, busy."

"Doing?"

"Nonya."

"Nonya? The f**k does that mean?"

"None ya business."

"Ouch, Trey, she got you again, what's that now, like 5-1?" Josh laughed at Trey's expense.

"Shut up, Holland." Trey eye rolled.

"Alright you rowdy lot, butts on seats now please.." Professor Ida said clapping her hands.

"Catch you after class, Parkes." Trey winked as he walked away, whispering and laughing with Josh.

"Girl, he is so into you." Nadine clicked her tongue with a smile.

"You guys look so cute together!" Amanda squealed.

"Excuse me? You're the one who said I should stay away from him." I slowly shook my head.

"Yeah but seeing how he is with you, it's hard not to root for ya's."

I rolled my eyes and got on with my lecture. Causally making eye contact with Trey when he would turn round to smile or wink at me, god this man is such a flirt, an annoying one at that.

'Turn around.' I silently mouthed to him. He'd just laugh and mouth back 'Go in front then.' Which don't get me wrong, that was a good come back, a flirty one, but good none the less.

After class I walked out with Nadine by my side to bump straight into Trey.

"You going to cheerleading try outs now, Parkes?" he asked wrapping his arm around my shoulder as we walked down the hallway.

"Yeah. Why?" I asked suspiciously.

"I'll see you on the field then, don't let my god like physique put you off."

"You personality already does that." I snapped back as I unhooked his arm from my shoulder.

He walked backwards in front of me with his hand on his heart "Ouch, you're killing me here."

"Die quietly." I smirked.

"Please date him! Please, Alyssa, I will literally pay you to date him!" Nadine pleaded with me like it was life or death for her.

"You're so dense, hell no I ain't dating him." I laughed nudging her arm with my elbow.

"Wanna make a bet?" She raised a brow at me.

"Depends if it's worth it." I raised one back.

"I bet $500 that by the end of this semester, you guys are an item."

"You're on, easy money." I gently shook my head with a winning smirk already plastered across my lips.

"You're going down, Lyss." She smirked back. "Come on, lets get to the changing rooms."

In the changing rooms I got dressed in a black sports bra, black sports leggings to match with a pair of black trainers, I shoved my hair up into a high pony allowing my random, loose strands to run free. Nadine was already ready waiting for me as she looked at herself in the mirror fixing her make up.

"Ugh, seriously Nadine, you're letting her try out?" Jen scoffed.

"What's wrong, Jen? Scared she's going to show you up here too?" Nadine pouted like the b***h she was.

"As if, just don't expect me to hold her up by her feet if she makes the team."

"I'm the captain, if I say you have to hold her up by her feet, you'll do and you'll do it with a smile on your face, act up and you'll be off the team faster than I say 'nice nose job' Got it?" Nadine snapped back at her, hands on hips, attitude on full display.

"Whatever, watch yourself our there, Alyssa." Jen resorted before flipping her hair over her shoulder and sauntering out the changing rooms.

"She's such a bitch." I groaned.

"She's just threatened by you." Nadine smiles before linking her arm with mine and dragging me out onto the field.

I walked out on to the track field with Nadine by my side to see all the other girls who were trying out doing stretches and talking amongst themselves. I started to get nervous when I look over the field to see Trey stood with a few of his team mates talking and messing about. It didn't take him long to look over and spot me. He ran over with a smile plastered on his face.

"Hey, Parkes. Nadine." He smile and nodded.

"Hey Trey." Nadine gave him a little wave.

"Lake." I replied.

"Told you I'd see you on the field."

"I'm gonna go get the girls in order, be ready in 5, Lyss."

"I'll be right over." I smiled at her before she walked off.

"So you nervous?" He smirked.

"No, should I be?" I raised a brow.

"Yeah, you know I'll be watching you."

"That doesn't make me nervous, you only wish you had that affect on me."

"In time, Parkes, in time. I just wanted to come and wish you good luck, hope you make the squad."

"Thank you."

"Then when you finally date me we can be that cute ass cliché couple you see in chick flicks. Y'know where the quarterback gets the cheerleader?"

"You're hilarious. I'm going." I smiled as I started to walk off. "But Lake?" I quickly said making him turn around.

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for the vote of confidence."

"Don't go soppy on me now, Parkes. I'm beginning to find your come backs quite the turn on" He smirked before running off back to his team.

"You ruined it again!" I called after him earning him to run backwards and blow me a kiss with both his hands in the air.

I shook my head laughing as I walked over to where Nadine was getting the girls in line.

"Lyss, front and centre please." She ordered me with a smile.

"Right ladies, thanks for joining us today. So I'll get straight to the point, I'm gonna do a few moves, you follow, if you can't you'll be cut, if you have no rhythm, you'll be cut, if you do make it through, I'll call you up to do a solo of your choice. Okay, let's begin."

Nadine did a small 6 step routine, and watched us all as we copied. Other members of the squad walked round the girls tapping them on the shoulder if they didn't make the cut. After repeating the 6 steps for a few minutes there were only 5 of us left standing, me, a couple girls and a boy.

"Then there were 5. I'm gonna shout you up one by one, give me your best moves. Emily?"

A petit brunette walked to the front, who I'm assuming is Emily and got herself ready to show Nadine what she had. She started off with a double front hand spring, cartwheel into a spin off, to stance. Then she jumped into a double black hand spring. It was good but I mean any cheerleader could do that, it was a pretty simple routine if you ask me. Next was another girl, Lauri, then the only boy, Marc, they were both good, not the best but passable for being a cheerleader.

"Alyssa, get your ass up here." Nadine smiled. "Show me, and the boys what you got." She nodded behind me.

I looked back to see Trey standing there with his arms crossed his chest and a bunch of his team mates surrounding him. He thinks he's going to distract me? He doesn't have a damn clue what I can do.

I turn back to Nadine and smirk earning her to smirk back and mouth 'You got this.'

I do the usual cheer start with my elbows by my side and clap, I jump in the air bringing both my legs in front of me, doing a clean land with both my feet together, then I turn and do 8 back hand springs in a row ending with a spin off, landing clean. I do 5 forward hand springs ending with a cat walk down into the splits, after a few seconds bringing myself back to my feet using my leg muscles and no hands, I then do a double forward flip with no hands ending it with a side body spin, into a v snap in the air, doing another clean landing throwing my hands in the air then quickly back to my side showing I've finished. Nadine was stunned as she erupted in an applause Jen's face was like thunder and I could hear Trey and all his team mates whistling and cat calling. Nadine jumped onto my wrapping her arms around my neck.

"What the hell was that?!" She exclaimed.

"I told you, I was captain at my old school." I shrugged.

"Looks like I better be the one to watch my back, you'll be captain in no time."

"Don't be stupid, Nad. You're the captain and that's how it's staying." I smiled.

"Well I don't need to announce anything, you're on the team, 100%!"

"Ahh I'm so excited!" I squealed.

Nadine did her thing and only me and the guy made the team, which I was so happy about. I couldn't wait to get started and wear a uniform again. Just as I was about to leave the field I heard Drew calling me.

"Alyssa!"

"Oh hey, Drew."

"Hey, you. I watched your routine, that was crazy! How did you not get dizzy doing all those flips?" He grinned.

"I guess I'm used to it." I shrugged with a smile.

"I'm guessing you made the team?"

"Ahum." I hummed. "Guess I'll see you round?"

"Yeah I guess you will, but before you go I wanted to ask you something."

"Yeah?"

I could sense he was nervous and knew it for definite when he started to rub the back of his neck with his hand before finally giving me eye contact.

"I was wondering if you wanted to.. maybe go on a- um, go on a date with me Friday night? Nothing formal just us? Getting to know one another."

"Um.. I mean sure."

I know I told Trey I wasn't looking for a relationship, which I'm not, but one date can't hurt right?

"Great, I'll pick you up at 7? If that's good with you?"

"Yeah, I'll see you then." I smiled before walking back to the changing rooms.

'VD to everyone - Not only has Alyssa just bagged her self a spot on the cheerleading squad with a killer routine, but now she's gone and bagged herself a date with the 2nd hottest boy at Vista Falls. Not bad for a newbie, new money. Looks like it's not just Jen that has to watch her back, now so do you Nadine, she'll be after your title soon too.'

I threw my phone back in my locker with a sigh of irritation.

"Ignore them, Lyss. It's a pathetic scumbag behind a screen, buying and selling secrets and gossiping none stop. It's not even worth cracking your phone screen for." Nadine said in a reassuring tone.

"You know I'd never come after your title don't you?"

"Of course I do, we're friends and VD doesn't like that, she just wants to create drama."

"I'd love to find out who they are and put a stop to them."

"It's been going on for years, no one knows who they are or why they do it, they see it as we're rich and famous so it's a recipe for scandal, which a lot of the time it is but it's not like we need the whole school knowing, y'know?"

"I do."

"So a date with Drew? Got to say, Lyss. I ain't happy, I was hoping to make an easy $500." She laughed.

"It's nothing serious, just a night out with a friend."

"Does he know that? Better yet, does Trey know that?"

"Trey doesn't need to know anything, we ain't an item and never will be, he annoys the hell outta me."

"I'm so sad." She fake pouted.

I laughed and gently elbowed her in the arm. "You're stupid."

We grabbed our duffle bags and headed out the changing rooms still in our work out gear, just as I walked out the door I felt a strong hand grab mine and slam me against the wall with both his hands resting on the wall either side of my head. I gain composure and when I look up I see Trey with a thrown on his face and his eyes darker than I've ever seen them before.

"Trey, what the hell?! You could of hurt her!" Nadine scolds him.

"Leave us for a minute, Nadine." He ordered her but didn't take his eyes off mine.

"I'll see you in class, Lyss."

I give her a short nod and she leaves. I look up at Trey mirroring his facial expression of fury.

"What was the need for that? Are you crazy?" I scoffed at him.

"Are you? A date with Drew, really, Parkes?!"

"And that's your business because?" I crossed my arms over my chest, still trapped against the wall in his embrace.

"You'll go on a date with him but not me? What happened to you not wanting a relationship?"

"I don't want a relationship, doesn't mean I can't go on dates? Besides it's just two friends going to dinner."

"Does he know that?"

"I don't know what he knows, it's what I know that counts, and you really have no say in the matter."

"Fine, two can play that game, Parkes."

He pushed himself off the wall and sauntered down the hallway.
