Episode 1: The New Transferee

963 Words
It was a typical Monday morning at Cameflare Academy, with students buzzing about in the hallways, chatting with friends, and rushing to their next class. But in one particular classroom, a new face was about to be introduced. Harry, the new transferee, stood nervously outside the door, fidgeting with his thick glasses and adjusting his ill-fitting clothes. As he entered the classroom, all eyes turned to him. Morris and Dexter, two of the class clowns, couldn't help but burst out laughing at Harry's appearance. The other students stared, some with curiosity, others with amusement. Harry's face turned bright red as he made his way to the front of the classroom. The teacher, Mrs. Thompson, introduced Harry to the class, but the whispers and snickers continued. Winzy, Monique, and Luna, three best friends, sat in the back of the classroom, whispering to each other. "Oh my gosh, look at him," Monique said, trying to stifle a giggle. "I know, right?" Winzy replied, raising an eyebrow. But Luna, with a mischievous grin, whispered, "He's kind of cute." The class erupted in a mixture of laughter and chatter, but Mrs. Thompson quickly regained control, silencing the students with a stern look. Harry, feeling embarrassed and out of place, took his seat, trying to avoid eye contact with his new classmates. After the class, Harry decided to escape to the library, hoping to find a quiet and comfortable spot to collect his thoughts. The library was a peaceful oasis, filled with rows of books and cozy reading nooks. Harry settled into a corner, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. Meanwhile, Winzy, Monique, and Luna also headed to the library, tasked with finishing a project on history. They sat down at a table, spreading out their notes and books. Winzy got up to retrieve a book from the shelf, but it was just out of reach. She pulled over a chair and stood on it, stretching up to grab the book. However, as she reached up, she lost her balance and felt herself falling. In a panic, Winzy thought she would land on the floor with a thud, but instead, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist, pulling her close. She was shocked to find herself being held by the new transferee, Harry. They both landed on the floor, Winzy on top of Harry, their faces inches apart. Winzy's mouth was open, her eyes wide with surprise. Harry's eyes were closed, his face scrunched up in pain. As they lay there, they couldn't help but stare at each other, their hearts beating faster. The air was thick with awkwardness, and they both felt a rush of shyness and nervousness. Finally, they hurried to their feet, Winzy apologizing profusely. Harry, in a shy and soft voice, replied, "It's okay." Winzy quickly grabbed the book that had fallen to the floor and glanced up at Harry, their eyes meeting for a brief moment. She felt a flutter in her chest and quickly looked away, walking briskly back to her friends. As Winzy sat down at the table, Monique and Luna looked at her with concern. "What happened?" Monique asked, noticing Winzy's flushed face. Winzy took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "I just...I fell, and the new kid caught me." Luna's eyes sparkled with interest. "Oh, Harry?" Winzy's face grew hot again as she thought about the brief moment they shared on the floor. "He's...nice, I guess." The three friends continued working on their project, but Winzy's mind kept wandering back to Harry. She couldn't believe that the new transferee, the one she had initially laughed at, had saved her from a nasty fall. And as she glanced over at Harry, who was sitting at a nearby table, she felt a strange sense of gratitude and curiosity. Who was this quiet, awkward boy, and what secrets lay beneath his thick glasses? As Winzy lost herself in thoughts about Harry, she felt a gentle nudge on her arm. Startled, she turned to see Luna and Monique, their faces a mixture of concern and curiosity. “Are you okay, Winzy?” Luna asked, her voice soft. Winzy blinked, shaking off her reverie. She smiled wide, her relief palpable. “Yeah, I’m fine! Just… lost in thought for a second,” she replied, her mind still lingering on the boy who had unexpectedly caught her. Monique raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. “You’ve been staring at that wall for a while. Are you sure everything's alright?” “Really, I’m good! Just thinking about our project,” Winzy asserted, scrambling to refocus. “So, what’s next on our list?” Luna leaned in, eager to change the topic. “Actually, I was wondering if you two would like to have a sleepover at my place tonight? I know it’s last minute, but my parents are away on business, and I’m feeling kind of lonely. We could binge-watch horror movies, eat some snacks, and just bond!” Winzy’s heart swelled with warmth at the idea; she loved the thought of spending time with her friends, especially in a relaxed, cozy environment. “That sounds amazing! Count me in!” she exclaimed, her excitement breaking through her earlier distraction. Monique grinned, bobbing her head in agreement. “I’m in too! I’ve been dying to try that new horror movie everyone’s talking about! Plus, it’s been ages since we’ve all hung out like that.” As they discussed their plans, Winzy felt the internal distraction of Harry slowly fade. Whatever secrets the quiet boy held, she could explore later. Right now, the laughter and chatter of her friends filled her heart with warmth, and the thrill of their impromptu sleepover brought a sense of lightness that she truly cherished.
