Introduction
Curiously, this story too was born from a Delta Force novel just as Since the First Day had been.
I was starting my final Delta novel, Midnight Trust, in which total mayhem is going on. The hero climbs aboard a Chinook helicopter, yes, the same Chinook helicopter, as part of a two-team extraction.
The second team’s extraction turns into a rescue from a major gun battle. The heroine boards the helo, briefly, before she and the hero are dumped out—over a waterfall—to start their own adventure.
However, a couple of curious things happened during that opening battle scene.
One person aboard had a British accent.
And I was having trouble with accounting for the number of survivors from the second team.
By now I knew what that meant…a new short story!
