Seraphine was shocked. She had no idea Daven had found his mate. A part of her felt guilty. She had come from the Bloodmoon pack to the Redmoon pack to ask Daven to marry her, someone else's mate. Though she had prepared for a situation like this, seeing how cheerful Elaina was made her feel guilty. She was too nice to hurt her by taking away the Moon Goddess's gift from her. The silence in the room made the atmosphere tense. "Well, Alpha, I have to say, you were gifted an amazing woman by the Moon Goddess," Seraphine said, breaking the silence. With a smile on her face, Elaina pulled her into a hug. " I am honored, Luna," Elaina said. She looked from Daven to Seraphine. "Well, we had better hurry, so we can get you settled in, and prepare you for the dinner party." Seraphine was confused. "What dinner part?" She asked. "Oh, well, Daven had informed me earlier to prepare for a grand party, that we would be expecting an important guest. "I just didn't know you were the one we would be hosting," Elaina replied. Seraphine nodded as her mind ran back to Daven's words. He had a spy in the Bloodmoon pack. Without saying anything else, she followed Elaina out of the throne room. They headed towards the west wing of the castle, and to a room. The room was beautiful. Decorations had been put in place, making the room come alive. "I hope it's to your liking?" Elaina asked. Seraphine glanced at her. "It is," She replied as she turned once more, taking in the beauty. "That's great," Elaina said, her voice sounding a little bit sad. Seraphine noticed and turned to her. "Is there something wrong?" She asked. Elaina tried to force a smile onto her face, but she couldn't. She let out a low sigh. "I didn't want to say this in front of Daven, but I heard what happened. I'm so sorry the Alpha King died a few months after you two found each other," She said, sincerely. Seraphine's lips tightened into a line, but then she smiled. "You know, I have come to learn in life that the time we spend with our loved ones shouldn't be trampled upon by the pain of losing them. We have the right to choose if we want to remain sad forever or hold onto the memories that make us happy." Hearing those words, Elaina smiled. "You're a lot stronger than I thought, Luna. I can't imagine being the one in your shoes. "I would kill myself if anything happened to Daven," She said and then let out an awkward chuckle. "Sorry about that, it's just that I don't think I can live without him." "I understand you," Seraphine said. Seraphine forced a smile on her face, trying to mask the ache in her heart. How did she think she would be able to take away someone else's mate? She wouldn't have let anyone take away Alaric, so who was she to try to take Daven from Elaina? She couldn't help but regret everything. She shouldn't have invoked the right. She should have just run away and let the Elders pick Alaric's successor. Now she had put her future and that of her family in danger. "You know, Luna, I wished I had met the Alpha King," Elaina said as she sat on the bed. Seraphine smiled. Sitting down next to Elaina, she said. "You know, you don't have to keep calling me Luna; besides, you are one too. Just call me Seraphine." Elaina's eyes brightened as the corners of her arched into a huge smile. "If you insist, Seraphine," She replied. Seraphine chuckled, and then something came to her mind. "Wait a minute, how long have you and Daven been together? I mean when you found out that you were... You know, mates," Seraphine asked. Elaina smiled. "We've been together for a year," she responded. "Then how come you've never met Alaric? Didn't you guys visit in the past?" Elaina let out a frustrated smile. "I tried to convince Daven that we should pay his brothers, not just Alaric a visit, but he always refused. He doesn't even like it when I bring up the conversation," She replied. Seraphine couldn't help but wonder why. Though she had asked Alaric in the past about his brothers, he never really seemed enthusiastic to talk about them. "I wish I knew what happened between them," Seraphine muttered. "Well, I do," Elaina said. "At least just a little." Seraphine turned to her. "Can you tell me about it?" "Sure, Luna, I mean Seraphine." They both laughed. "Well, you know, after the late Alpha King Alex, Daven's father, wiped out the rest of the witches, he also dethroned the three Alphas who sided with the witches," Elena said. Seraphine nodded. She knew that side of the story. It has always been her bedtime story. Her father would always tell her about it before tucking her in. But she wasn't interested in that part of the story. "To secure a peaceful rule in the realm, he sent delegates to watch over those packs. But with time, the delegates tried to rebel too. During that time, the Alpha King's sons had already come of age. So when he took down the rebels, he decided to make his sons the Alpha of these packs," Elaina said as a frown crossed her face. "But guess how he did that?" Seraphine remained silent. She had no idea. "The Alpha made his sons compete with each other," Elaina said. "Compete in what?" Seraphine asked. "In a fight. He made the four brothers wrestle against each other," Elaina responded, her voice lowering into a whisper. Something was wrong. Seraphine could sense it. "Wasn't the fight a fair one?" She asked. "It was, but it left a scar on Daven, both emotionally and physically," she said. "What do you mean?" Seraphine asked in a confused tone. Elaina let out a sigh. "After Alaric won, Daven attacked him in anger, saying he didn't deserve to be the next Alpha King. But the Alpha King got angry, so he—" She said and then blinked tears away. "Left his claw marks on the face of his son.”
