Marisoll It was strange being able to breathe underwater, I touched the gills in my neck, and then I swam, it was not how children were told stories of mermaids underwater, with beautiful scenery, it was dark the deeper I swam, so dark I could see nothing until I came upon different kinds of fish and jellyfish that glowed or lit up, it was pretty in a haunting kind of way. It was eerily quiet, and then I heard it, a siren, they did not sound too different from the noises a whale made, back when they had been mermaids they had been able to talk like us humans, but the darkness had stolen their voices and turned them more animal like. I quietly swam away and deeper down into the sea, how far down was I supposed to go? The ocean was like a world of its own, it was endless, for all I knew
