Raven
"Raoul," I called immediately as soon as he stepped foot in my office.
"I did it. The media were furious and said it was all because of my ex and everything. Then I heard a statement which is from Ethan that we're just fake dating for your reputation and, out of the blue, I stated that we're not, and we're actually getting married, so the thing between us is serious." He said so fast and seriously like he was not kidding.
Before I could answer, my phone beeped and it was my mother...
Mom: I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH! I KNEW IT. YES, ALL CAPS TO SHOW MY GENUINE HAPPINESS MY RAVE. I knew there was progress. Don't worry, I don't personally think it is too fast. When I met your father, we just had 3 months before we got married.
FUCK.
"Rao... Rao, Rao, Rao..." I stressed.
"I'm sorry, Rave. I admit, I panicked. I don't know why." He sat down and rubbed his face. I saw that he was also concerned and that he didn't really mean it.
I went closer to him and sat beside him.
"You know that there's no going back?" I whispered. He slowly lifted his face before looking at me. "We gotta pay for the consequences of your actions." I chuckled painfully.
"It was selfish of me.. I'm sorry, Raven." He stated so genuinely that I immediately had the instinct to hug him, and he just put his weight on me like a baby.
"It's okay... It's not like you're a con to be a husband," I joked, but he didn't laugh. "Maybe it'll also be a win-win for your inheritance?" I stated to lighten up the mood.
I don't know why, but I accepted it already. It's not like I'm going to be with Ethan again, and true love awaits for nothing for me. I don't have plans in my life, so why don't I just go with the flow?
"My mother is actually so happy..." he said. "That I can't dare to take it back because for years she has been wanting me to get happy and be settled."
"Mine, too." I answered softly. "How about this Rao..." I started and his attention is all on me that made me nervous. "We get married for 3 years... if we both really didn't work, divorce is just open for the both of us."
He blinked. "Are you actually saying to me that we will... try? To make this work?"
I sensed that he didn't like that, or maybe I just assumed. "No. I mean... I don't know. People and the media are now in a ruckus because of an announcement, especially our parents, so it is indeed really hard to take it back. So, to make it believable at least 3 years of marriage, then what happens, happens?"
Before he could answer, his phone rang, and I saw from the caller ID that it was his mother. He sighed before he answered the phone.
"Ma..." Rao answered. "It... It's just an announcement... No... Raven and I have not talked about the details yet..." He eyed me. "What? Am I hearing this correctly, ma?" His brows furrowed. "Within this month?!" I sensed the panic in his voice. "Ma, I'm sure grandpa can wait... I still have to talk to Raven about this, mama... It is not just me... Oh... You both already talked?" Rao rolled his eyes as if his mother could see his attitude. "Fine. I'll tell Raven." He ended the call.
He sighed heavily before looking at me.
"My mother said that we should get married within this month.." He stated as calm as possible.
My eyes widened from what I heard. "This month?! That's like 2 weeks from now?!" I panicked.
"It was requested by my grandpa, and we have a family dinner tonight with your family. No need to inform your parents because, apparently, my parents and your parents have already talked." He rolled his eyes again.
"This is really real, huh?" I said, softly.
"What?" He clarified.
"Us... getting married..." I whispered like it's a secret.
He smirked. "Is our law still applying?"
I slapped his arm lightly. "Of course?!"
He pursed his lips. "So no kissing your husband?"
"Rao!"
He chuckled, then I froze when he pulled me closer by my waist and kissed the side of my forehead. "Thank you for taking this... I owe everything to you. Thank you for making this bearable."
"Bearable?" I asked. "It's not like I have plans for the future so why not go with the flow?"
"Hm?" He stated so teasingly that I had to pinch his arm. "Ah. right. That is your mood for the week. It's on your mood board. Que sera, sera." He pointed at my mood board.
"Don't try to mess up my board again." I threatened, and he just shrugged. Acting so innocent. His sticky note is white while mine's red!
We both got ready for tonight's dinner and it is held at Grey Residences. As soon as we both walked out the office. We both got stormed by the word "congratulations."
Media was also waiting in front of my building, and it is a good thing that Rao had prepared a security team.
"Hi, darling." His mom greeted me.
"Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Grey." I smiled.
His mom's brows raised. "Call me mom now, dear." She smiled and chuckled.
"Hi, ma... papa.." I went to them and kissed them both on their cheeks.
Rao and I both sat down in our seats and wedding planning talks immediately started like... wow.
"What's your wedding motif?" Mom asked excitedly. "Hoping you get what you want now, Rave." She added, and I suddenly got a flashback.
When Ethan and I were planning our wedding. It was everything he wanted. Not a single drop of color red, which is obviously my favorite color, was added, yet I didn't care back then. I was too lovesick with him.
The dates were decided, and it'll be on 28th of November. Within 2 weeks, wedding preparations will start immediately.
"What did your mom mean by hoping you get what you want now, Raven?" Rao asked while we were inside the car. He drove me to my condo.
"Uh... When I got married to Ethan... my opinion wasn't asked." I chuckled painfully. "It was planned by Ethan. I didn't get to have a say at our wedding, that is why even though I didn't like our wedding motif back then, even my wedding dress... I didn't really care too much though it hurt but I was too lovesick with Ethan." I chuckled and waved it off like it was nothing.
"To clarify... even your wedding dress? He chose your wedding dress?" He sounds so confused.
I nodded. "Everything." I answered.
"What color was your wedding back then?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes. "Brown." I chuckled, and he looked offended and had that insulting look. "What?" I asked, laughing now.
"Brown?" He repeated in the most sarcastic way. "No matter he looks like shit." He insulted and I laughed.
"Rave..." He called softly and I looked at him as my answer to his call. "You want to go and live with me for a bit before the wedding?"
What?
