Chapter 2. The Twins

After morning classes. Lunch time. Professors’ room.

Daphne was eating her salad and looking through the list of students. She stopped at the name Kenway and saw two files of two students.

“Violet Kenway,” she read nonchalantly and looked at profile photo and info. “Good marks, not best, but good. Ah I see an athlete and winner of many awards for the school.” She hummed and then looked at Edward’s profile.

“Edward Kenway,” Daphne looked at his photo a bit longer. She snapped out of it and explored his profile.

“Best at all exams and test, yet complete disaster in homework and projects. Just enough to pass semesters”. She observed. ‘Is he cheating? I wonder. He seemed like a smart student, understanding and grasping at everything I taught in the class, yet homework marks. Hmm…’ She mused and looked at his photo again.

“Professor Greengrass.” she greeted her with a nod.

Professor Greengrass was beautiful young woman with ginger-red hair and bright green eyes. She pouted a little at Daphne’s cold voice.

“Oh, don’t be so cold,” Professor Greengrass said and smiled. “Just Chloe will do.”

“Then it’s Daphne.” Daphne acknowledged and thought ‘Better to become friends or at least be on friendly terms with only other female professor.’

“Yes, I wanted to check their profiles after seeing them in my class.” Daphne answered. “Makes me create a better picture of them. To read the files after meeting them for the first time.”

“I see, I see.” Chloe said with a nod and sat down opposite Daphne. “Oh, isn’t that infamous Kenway Twins!” She said with small chuckle.

“Infamous?” Daphne asked confused.

“Yes-yes wanna know?” Chloe asked teasingly.

“Yes, please.” Straight cold reply.

“And what do I get in return? Hmm?” More teasing.

“Fine, I’ll ask someone else.” Daphne said and began to stand up.

“No, I was just teasing.” Chloe said quickly.

‘I know, but it’s faster this was’ Daphne thought with inner laugh. “Thank you, Chloe.” She said and smiled.

‘I know, but it’s faster this was’Professor Greengrass looked at Daphne for a couple of second, “You are a meanie.” she said and pouted.

“Sorry-sorry. I’m just interested in the comment you made about Kenway twins.” Daphne apologized.

“Fi-i-ine, you are forgiven,” Chloe is back to be cheerful, “So the twins. Violet isn’t really studious, but really athletic. She won so many championships in so many categories it’s genuinely hard to remember all of them.” Chloe started to explain. Daphne noticed the look that Chloe had when she spoke about Violet. ‘Huh that may be interesting,’ she thought.

. ‘Huh that may be interesting,’“Even Headmaster said to professors to give her passing grades, so she just stays in our school. That is how important she is.” Chloe finished explaining about Violet still with the same dreamy look.

Daphne frowned, “I’m not planning to go easy on her because of her athletic achievements. If she fails, she fails.”

Chloe smiled, yet there is a bit of coldness in her eyes but it quickly disappeared. “You shouldn’t worry about that, her brother always pushing her to take better grades and pass classes on her own. Without athletic achievements.” Chloe said to ease Daphne’s worry. “There was even a rumor that Edward was very angry at her for even trying to do that.”

“I see. That might explain why Edward’s homework and project marks are not very high.” Daphne assumed.

“No-no-no.” Chloe laughed. “They are not high simply because he doesn’t care about them and never really give any effort for them.” Chloe explained.

“But why?” Daphne is confused, ‘if he is so smart why not take full marks everywhere?’

“What? That’s it?” Daphne is gob smacked, “just because it’s boring?”

“And useless, don’t forget about useless,” Chloe laughed again with exclamation.” But yes, it’s not like we can punish him for not doing good enough. If he did the same on the exams and test, then yes, we can do quite a lot. But homework and projects that doesn’t affect his or school’s reputation…” Chloe shrugged nonchalantly.

“I see. That is something I just can’t understand.” Daphne said confused.

“Don’t worry about it really, you are free to speak with him about that. No one will stop you.” Chloe reassured. “That is just who he is.”

“Hm?”

Chloe’s smile widened, “The Best and The Worst student in our school.” She Laughed.

“The best and the worst you say…” Daphne replied deep in thoughts.

“With big letters! It’s important to keep the title… very important.” Chloe exclaimed with another laugh.

“Yes, I can understand that.” Daphne agreed with a gleam in her eyes.

Chloe looked at her strangely. ‘Oh, the kid is f****d, well not like this is my problem.’ Chloe thought and took out her lunch.
