CHAPTER SIX

'Anything interesting you want to tell me?'Anna asked one day as I was making her hair

'Nope'

"But you've been spending a lot of time outside and without me".she whined

" Because I have been practicing with the team which you should also be doing if you stop spending the whole day with Jason".

"I can't help it when he's so cute and I don't spend the whole day only few hours".she said

'Yea sure'

"How's practice then?"

'Okay,I'm playing defense'.

'That's good.my team leader suggested I run in the relay,but I'm not so sure about it'.

'You'll do just fine trust me'.

'Thanks'.

The competition was starting next week so by weekend the representatives from the other schools would be arriving since they'd be sleeping over at ours.

'Daniel said westwood high is among the schools coming'.Anna informed me

"That's the school close to us right?"I asked

'Yes'.

I wasn't sure what the history was and not that I care,it was their feud not mine.

'He also said to meet him at the spot'.She added.Anna,Daniel and I had a particular place we go to which was created by their parents for them so it was safe to say they receive special treatment around here I was just lucky to be friends with them.Of recent,Daniel and I spend lots of time together since I told him he knew nothing about me so he was making up for it.

"Why didn't you say so sooner".I asked as I quickly stood up thankfully I was done with her hair

'Oh so you would leave my hair half way?no thanks'

'Traitor'.I murmured but I'm sure she heard because she smiled at me.

'Bye see you later'.I said as I left

'I was just leaving,thought you were not coming'.Daniel said immediately he saw me

'Sorry,she just told me now'

'Oh.What were you doing before?'

'Making her hair'.

"Make sense,she doesn't want you to leave it half way".

'Trust me I would've,she's lucky she's smart'.I told him and he agreed.

He lead me to where the chair was and we started talking about different things excluding Tessa,Gideon or our kiss.I still did not mention that I saw him kiss Tessa twice.

"So anything new I should know about?"

'Well…no except you are interested in my social life'.I said

'I am interested in all areas of your life you know it'.my chest can't contain how happy I was when he said so.

'Aguyinmyclassaskedmeout'.I rushed out

"Can you maybe go a little more faster?'.He asked and I could tell he was being sarcastic

"A guy in my class asked me out".I repeated as I turned to see the expression on his face.But I couldn't tell if he was sad or angry as all the smile on his face had disappeared.

"What?why……not why, when?"

"Yesterday"

'What did you tell him?who is he?'I was definitely not answering the latter

'Yes'.l lied wanting to get a reaction

'Why would you say yes?'

"Because I can and Anna has a boyfriend and I need one too".

"Doesn't mean you accept any boy who ask you".

'But he's not just any boy'.I was pushing his buttons and I knew it.

'So who is he?'His voice was low this time

'The boy'.

'Okay'.He said and started walking away.I have passed the limit

"Where are you going?"I asked standing up too

'My hostel'.

'You can't be serious'.

"Really".He wasn't stopping

'I was just joking Dee,I told him no.why would I say yes when I'm still waiting for yo'u.I wanted to add but held back.

He paused but did not turn back.I was only pulling your legs which turned out to be a bad thing.I continued and this time,he turned to face me.

'Don't joke with things like that'.

'Why?'

'Because…'

'That's not even a reason'.I wanted to shout but said it as calmly as I could manage to.

The next second,his lips found mine for the second time this term and this time,I didn't bother fighting for dominance because it was certain he was going to win.Our lips moved in perfect sync, that is until his phone rang and we had to separate with both of us breathing heavily.In my mind I was surely not blessing the person right now.

' It's my mom'.He said answering my unasked question so maybe I was blessing her she could be my mother in-law in the future who knows.

"Oh okay'

'I hope that's reason enough?'He was referring to the kiss and it definitely was.

"I have to pick it and we can spend the whole day,so I'll see you tomorrow".He said and kissed the top of my head.

I stayed a little longer at the spot as I wanted to arrange my thoughts like where does this leave us now?what about Tessa? But when I couldn't find a reasonable answer,I left.

"Details now".Anna attacked me as soon as I opened the door.

'What are you talking about?'

'The fact that you are smiling more than usual and swollen lips anything else you want to tell me.'

'Since you know so much I'm sure you'd figure out the rest on your own'.

'Don't try me young lady'.she warned jokingly

'Tighten your seat belt I'm about to take you on the greatest ride of your life'.I said dramatically while she just rolled her eyes but sat down nevertheless.

We didn't have lectures as we were all preparing for the competition this time more serious than before as we all always came second but we wanted this time to be different.I just finished practice and was trying to catch my breathe like the rest of the girls who were scattered all over the field in twos and threes but I was alone as Anna had her own practice for race.

" Senior Tessa asked me to call you".I heard a small voice say.

"Oh ok,thank you".what does she wants me?I mean she has never spoken more than two words to me and now she's calling me the world is probably coming to an end.I thought before laughing at my own thought

'Senior,you sent for me'.I told her when I found her sitting with two of her other friends.

'I did'.she confirmed

'Ok'

'I've heard of the way you go about clinging to my boyfriend,what do you want?'she asked.who is her boyfriend because I'm sure she wasn't talking about Daniel.I thought

"Who are you talking about?"

"So you are as stupid as you look?"one of her friend said

'What do you mean?'

"You know,I thought her brain will make up for how she looks but I guess she's not lucky".The same girl said to Tessa and they all laughed still looking at me except the third person.

"Let me make one thing clear,Daniel is mine and mine alone and I've heard of your little crush but you better keep it to yourself".

'Daniel is not your boyfriend'.was the only thing I could say praying it was true.

"Ha ha,what did you think he asked me that day huh?" I'm certain she was talking about the second time I saw them kissing.So he asked her out and then had the guts to kiss me?

'The fact that you think Daniel can like someone like you is very funny'.The same girl said

"I know right". Tessa said while the third girl just looked at them

At this point,the self esteem I've manage to build up was going down the drain as fast as lightning and I was struggling not to cry.He's not worth it,no one's is worth a single tears from my eyes.I know I should leave,but it was as though my feet were rooted to the ground.

"If you know what's good for you,better focus on your life and the guys in your class or any other person and leave Daniel alone".

'He's my friend,he won't leave me'.Why was I still talking I mean I just found out he has a girlfriend

'Your friend,now let me tell you something you don't know he's only friends with you because he doesn't want anyone to bully you…I mean look at yourself,would you want to be friends with yourself.You are just a fat crybaby who is scared to be on her own'.And at this point,I was already crying.

"Guys leave her alone,I think she get it now that Daniel is yours so no need for all this drama".The third girl finally spoke

"We're just telling her the truth that she doesn't fit in here".The truth is bitter though.Tessa said putting a smile as she talked to her friend

'You can go'.The girl said and I thanked her before running blindly to our room and cried my head out.

When I was done crying,I went to the bathroom to look at myself in the mirror and Tessa wasn't wrong,there were fats on my arms and thigh even my stomach wasn't helping.I stared at myself a little longer why do I have to be like this?why couldn't I be a little slim like Anna or Tessa?why would I ever think that Daniel could like me?I asked myself as fresh tears started dropping from my eyes again.

Deciding I'd had enough of the self pity,I took my bath then I put on a joggers which did not leave any skin out.when I was done,I climbed the bed to sleep even though I Knew for sure that I wasn't getting any.

'I'm back'.Anna announced but I did not bother to look.

'Welcome'

"Daniel bought ice-cream".she said

'I'll pass'. I told her still not turning to look at her.

"Who are you and what have you done with vee?"she joked because she knew how much I loved ice cream

'I right here'.I answered as I sat up to look at her

'Have you been crying?'she asked noticing my swollen eyes

"No"

'Sure looks like it.Did something happen?'she asked

'No,practice was intense'.was my short response

"And you don't want ice-cream" she asked again.

'Yes'.I answered and slept back putting my blanket over my head.I hope it passed the message that I didn't want to talk anymore and I wasn't sure why I was angry at her it was not her fault that I was the way I am,but right now i did not care.

I did not talk to Anna for the rest of the night and when I woke up the next morning I had my bath and put on my long sport wear instead of the short one I normally wear.

'Where are you going to this early?'

'Practice.'I lied

"Will I see you at breakfast?"

"Probably not".I'm watching my weight.I thought to myself

"If something is wrong,you'll tell me right?"she asked

'Yes.I've to go now or I'll be late'

"Okay,take care and make sure to eat something"

ANNA'S POV

I knew something was wrong when vee refused the ice cream and the fact that it was from my brother.They did not have any fight that I wasn't aware of and of yesterday I knew he kissed her as he wouldn't shut up about it later that night when we talk and same with her.Vee is like a sister to me and I knew she had a crush on my brother which was fine with me since I liked her,I mean who wouldn't she has a heart of gold even if she can be insecure at time even though I think she was just been paranoid.She has a shape I would kill to have but I think it had something to do with what happened to her when she was younger so I try to understand.

I decided to ask my brother at breakfast if he knew something I didn't and practice before breakfast I don't think so.I just hope she was okay.

VICTORIA'S POV

When I got to the field,there were a few number of people there,while some were running others were stretching so I joined those running maybe the fats on my thigh would reduce.

"Is something wrong?"one of the girls asked me

'No'

'You're crying'.she said and it was then I noticed the tears on my face

'Sorry'.I apologized

"It's Okay.I'll run with you".she volunteered

"Thanks".i mumbled as i wiped my face

"I'm Lilian by the way".she introduced

'Victoria but you can call me vicky or vee your choice'.

'Nice to meet you Vicky'.she said and I gave her a small smile.

I spent most of the day hiding from Daniel,Anna and Jason and at some point Gideon which was a little hard as it seemed they were everywhere I went.The only thing I had after practice was water and popcorn,I thought that if I reduced how I ate maybe I'll be fine.

It was getting late now and I had no choice but to go back to the room but I wanted to wait until all the guys had gone because I was certain Daniel would be in the room till then.

I'm sure I would be okay very soon
