MY BESTFRIEND'S BROTHER

CHAPTER SEVEN

It's been three days since I saw Daniel and the rest of the guys thanks to my great hiding skills. I have really missed hanging out with them,but I couldn't bring myself to be around Tessa and Daniel who according to Tessa are dating.I can't stand the boy I like kissing the girl that hates me.

I spend almost the whole day practicing or walking around and sometimes I even hang around with Lilian who became my friend she introduced me to some of her other friends but I preferred hanging out with just Lilian not that they weren't nice to me but I didn't just feel the need to have more friends right now.

As I stood up to start preparing for my practice,I looked at Anna who was still sprawled up on the bed probably tired from waiting up for me as I came back late last night.I knew I was been unfair to her but i tried not to think so much about it and I hope it didn't affect our friendship in any way as I couldn't afford to lose my best friend.

'Where are you going to this early?'Anna asked as she noticed my movement around the room

'Practice'.I lied smoothly,I hated lying to her but seems that was exactly what I did best of recent.

'This early?'she asked,her voice still raspy

"Yea,you know the competition is starting soon".

"Okay.Will I see you at breakfast?"she asked hopefully

"I can't,you know….."

"Practice right?"she cut me off and I hear her voice laced with hurt and I felt a pang of guilt

'Maybe we should have a girls night today later in the night'.I asked quickly

'Ok'.She answered with a big smile on her face and I heaved a sigh in relief.'That means you have to come back early'.she said.

'Yes'. I told her.

'Promise'

'I promise'.i told her again

Ok

I have to go now,see you later.

'Bye'

I met Lilian on the field already warming up so I joined her after greeting her. After practice was done for that morning, Lilian went for breakfast while I walked around watching some guys play football.I think Lilian noticed I barely eat so she made it her duty to always get snacks for me which I was grateful for.One thing about her is that just like Anna,she doesn't trespass or try to pry into my personal life and I think she would get along well with Anna when I introduce them.

'I saw Daniel'.Lilian said as we sat down still watching the guys.Yes,she found out about my crush on him

"He was with Tessa, wasn't he?"I asked even though I knew the answer

'Sorry vee,I think I saw them kissing'.she added and if it was possible,I heard my heart breaking again but I kept calm because she said 'think' not that she did.

'I just remembered,I promise to meet liz'.i lied even though Liz was currently avoiding me for reasons unknown

'Okay,see you tomorrow'.she said as I waved her goodbye

I made my way to another part of the school where few people were.I thought of all the good times we had together and the kisses shared and my hand unconsciously went to my lips.

'Thinking hard, aren't we?' A voice said beside me making me jump with fright as I wasn't expecting anyone to come close to me

'Who are you?'I asked the handsome stranger.He's I really handsome, though not like Daniel

'Someone that has a listening ear'.He answered

"Who says I have a problem?"

"No one but your face said it all".He said

'Very funny'.i thought as I faced him more interested in what he had to say

"What does it say?"I asked with raised eyebrows

'Boy issue' he said,catching me off guard.

'How did you know?...are you a witch?' I asked, whispering the last part.

'It wasn't hard, your hand was on your lips'.He pointed out laughing lightly,he showed off his very nice dentition when he did.

'So what is it?'He asked on a more serious note.

"Why would I trust you?"

'Because you might not see me again until another competition or social activities'.He said, confirming that he was here for the competition.

'Okay'. i said giving in as I needed to talk to someone.I told him about Daniel,Tessa and Anna,I even mentioned what Tessa told me and how I was being unfair to Anna.True to his words,he didn't interrupt,he only nodded at intervals showing he was following me.

'I think Tessa is jealous'.He said when I was done.

'Jealous of what?'

'You of course'

'Why?'I was confused as she is perfect and I'm not.

'Daniel likes you and I think he's just trying to get back at you for something'.He explained

"That's what Anna said".i told him, recalling the day Anna said the same thing.

"Because it's the truth".

So…..

"I left you for like what...ten minutes and you're already charming an innocent girl".A girl said behind the stranger whose name I still don't know and boy was she beautiful.

's**t…. that's my girlfriend,I was supposed to wait for her'.He whispered before turning to face the girl

'Oh babe,I was just talking to her'.He then told her something in her ear and before I knew it,she was already beside me.

'I'm sorry,I didn't know:.She apologized so I guessed he told her about my 'boy issue'

'It's okay'.i told her truthfully as it wasn't her fault.

"Tell me everything".She commanded

Having no choice,I repeated everything I told the boy to her and when I was done,she stared at me like I was crazy

"You are beautiful and she's just jealous".

"The same thing I said".The boy whose name I still don't know said.

'By the way, I'm Emmanuella but you can call me Ella and this boy here is Matt because I'm sure he's playing mysterious'

'I'm not since you told her my name'.He pouted,they looked so cute together and I felt jealous of their relationship.

'I got it?'Ella said suddenly

'Got what?'

'You say he doesn't like you talking to other boys right?'but she did not wait for an answer before she continued….'I have a plan'.she finished happily.

After Ella told us her plan and everything else was settled,I waved them goodbye as I already promised Anna I would be back early.

'See you tomorrow'.Ella and Matt said together before smiling at each other they were couples goal.

'Bye'.

Anna was waiting for me when I entered the room,and I smiled at what I saw-snacks of different type mostly my favorites,her laptop was already in position,our duvet was folded up together with the pillows while Anna herself was sitting down and looking at the wall which I was sure by now would have a hole.

'I'm sorry for being a bad friend'.I apologized frantically

'It's okay'.She said gently hugging me back,I was certain I had tears in my eyes.

'If anything is wrong, you'll tell me right?'she asked and I nodded repeatedly

'I missed you'.i told her

"Me too.come on now,I downloaded a movie for us to watch".she said

"Tittle?"I asked, taking my position under the duvet.

"Welcome sudden death".

"What! it's scary.i told her assuming it was because of its title'.

'It's not,trust me'.she said joining me

We watched the movie in silence and true to her word it wasn't.

"I've really missed hanging out with you and Daniel is too,he comes here everyday".she informed me but I didn't believe he missed me since he had Tessa.

"Let's not talk about boys, tonight is for girls alone and I missed you too".i added

"Ok".

The next morning,I got ready for breakfast while Anna was having her bath.I picked a dress which covered most of my skin,I knew I shouldn't allow Tessa's word to get to me but I couldn't help it when she was telling the truth.

'Let's go'.Anna said when she was done dressing

'Go ahead,I want to pick two of my friends I'll meet you'.

"You are not planning on ditching me right?"

'Of course not'.

'If you don't come on time, I'm coming to look for you'.She told me and I knew she was serious.

Ok

I met Matt and Ella exactly where we promised to meet yesterday and after greeting them I led them towards our table though Matt stopped following when the table was on sight.

'Hey guys'.I greeted and all the people on the table turned to look at especially Daniel whose gaze lingered longer before he looked away as if he didn't care while Tessa looked as if she'd seen a ghost….just joking,but she really looked annoyed.

"Look who decided to show up".Gideon mocked playfully

"Hey Vee".Jason said,smiling at me he was always the matured one.

"Who's this beauty?"Gideon asked

"This is Ella and Ella meet my friends" I introduced them each by their names and when I mentioned Tessa's,she gave me a knowing smile.

"Nice to meet you".Ella said before sitting down beside me.

"Same here, it's not everyday you get to meet your soulmate".Gideon said winking at her.Let Matt hear you say that.i thought

"So Vee you were avoiding us".Jason said

"Uhm maybe".I said since it was very obvious.

"Any particular reason?"He asked again and I avoided looking at Daniel even though I could feel his eyes on me probably wanting to know the reason while Tessa held his arm like a support machine.

Nope.I said but not without sparing Tessa a glance.

"Hey babe".Matt said behind me placing a kiss on my forehead,let the show begin.I whispered before smiling at him

"Babe!"everyone at the table asked in shock

"When did this happen?"Anna asked when she recovered

"I saw her yesterday and thought she was beautiful so why not?"Matt lied smoothly putting his hand on my shoulder and I managed not to flinch and this definitely got Daniel's attention as he looked between Matt and I.

" You are saying you met her yesterday?"damn,dude you move fast.Gideon asked

"Oh wow".was all Anna said and the guilt was eating me up

Tessa smiled probably thinking her advice worked if only she knew.Daniel didn't react much so I guess he did not mind me dating someone else so this was a waste. I then gave Matt a defeated smile but he wasn't having it.

"Hope you are ready for our date?"Matt asked me leaving me confused...when did we talk about a date

Uhm...I...Ella stopped me before I could answer telling me to play along….'You know I am sweetheart'.It felt weird calling him 'sweetheart' an at this point, Daniel stood up murmuring some incoherent words before leaving and Tessa ran after him not without glaring at me….what did I do now?

"That wasn't surprising".Gideon said

"Not at all".Jason agreed

"That went well".

"You guys make a nice couple".Anna said looking at us

"Oh we're not together, Ella's my girlfriend".Matt answered saving me from telling another lie

"What... you just told...oh...wait did you just do it to get on Daniel's nerve?"Anna asked finally catching on

"My soulmate is your girlfriend?can this day get any worse?"Gideon said with a hand over his chest

"Sorry,but you have to look for her somewhere else".Matt told him coming to sit between the both of them

"Why didn't you tell me?you had so much fun".

"Come on,you can't be mad now". I said hoping she wasn't.

"I am".she replied pouting

"I love you too".

For the rest of the breakfast we all got along the guys gisted with Matt as though they knew him before and the girls were not left out even though Anna had to mention she was my best friend twice to Ella and it was obvious she was kinda jealous of how close I was to Ella not that she had a reason to be and Ella's response was 'don't worry,I know'.No one mentioned anything about Daniel which was a relief and when we went our separate ways for practice we promised to meet for lunch.

'They're nice'.Anna said as soon as we were alone

'Yea I guess'.

The rest of the day was uneventful apart from lunch and dinner all we did was practice.My legs were so sore when I got back to the room and same with Anna as she had her legs inside a bowl with water inside

'I can't wait for this competition to be over'.She murmured

'With this stress and pain,we must win o'.i told her as I joined her with my own bowl of water

'Goodnight'.i said when I was ready to sleep.

'Yea night'.was her weak response as I put off the lights.
