CHAPTER 2 : BANISHED FLORIDA

1077 Words
Still in utter astonishment that the moon goddess had just banished him from the pack, his mother came rushing to him with tears running profusely down from her eyes, “Jose! Let me go with you…you can't leave me here.” she begged her nails sinking into his skin as she had her hands wrapped around his arm. With shere pain in his heart, he held on to his mother. He couldn't imagine the pain she must be going through, losing her husband and now the pack she had worked so hard to build. He looked towards his uncle, his hazel eyes shining with a hint of red under the moonlight as he felt pure anger running through his veins. He could never leave his mother here to start with, not alone with his uncle. He knew all too well that his uncle had fetish plans for her and was always envious of his father for the fact of him becoming the Alpha and taking his mother's hand in marriage. But not to the point that he'd murder him and take his mother as his own. He'd never let him win to that extent, he'd never let him have his cake and eat it. “I would never leave you here by yourself mother.” He looked towards the pack that had abandoned them one last time. The moon goddess watched over in pain and disappointment before turning their backs one last time to leave. “Let's go.” After many days and nights of wandering aimlessly through the forests and over unfamiliar paths, they found themselves in the big busy streets of Florida. Humans rush through going about their days with no worries or knowledge of any such things of werewolves. Jose concluded that this was the best place for them to settle down. They'd start over and live new lives, away from the pack that had abandoned them, away from his uncle. “We will live here from now on mother, we'll try our best to live amongst the humans.” He told his mother resting his firm, strong hands on her shoulders in assurance. Their clan had always avoided the very thought of humans. Now, they were forced to live amongst them, in an unusual land with their unusual ways of doing things different from theirs, the very thought saddened her. But they had no other choice and she would put all her faith in her son. “This way, Sebastian will never find us if he comes looking, we won't be spotted out easily. It won't be easy, but we have each other.” His mother smiled warmly at his words, nodding in agreement. Here, they'd never be predicted and would be safe no matter the circumstances at least. A Few Years Later… Jose, in all his anonymity, had found his way up in the rankings as one of the highest rate business tycoons in Florida. With his tech company seated at number one on all the books and covers yet again. He needed to keep his true identity a secret and hiding himself perfectly behind his right hand man, Daniel who was the supposed face of his company worked tremendously over the years. “How does it feel to be number one again?” Daniel asked Jose as he poured some liquor into his glass cup filled with ice as they sat in his vintage designed office chatting over the recent events. “I could not have done it without you being my perfect facade Daniel.” He huffed as he plopped back into his seat. “I still do not understand why you need me to be your cover up Jose. It was fun at first, but now I'm just plain curious.” He wondered as he watched Jose sigh, picking up his glass cup and swallowing its contents. “I'm still grateful for all the hard work Daniel.” Jose replied, twirling his glass in hand. He had evaded his query and Daniel thought it best to drop the topic. “And I am ever grateful to you as well sir.” They sat in silence as Jose suddenly heaved under his breath, dropping his glass cup on the table and holding the side of his head as he slowly felt the room spin. Another migraine. He snorted, they had become persistent over the last couple of days. He was not getting enough rest due to the piling paper work he had to handle on a daily basis since his company had been receiving more business deals. “Jose?” Daniel blurted out as he rushed towards him, holding him steady by his shoulder. “Are you okay sir? Was the liquor too strong for your liking?” Jose slowly shook his head, “Barely, my migraines have gotten worse.” “Shall I call your doctor? He'll be here in only a few minutes.” Daniel suggested bringing out his phone. Jose nodded beaconing him to put his phone back into his pocket. “We shouldn't bother him over something as small as a headache.” Daniel sighed staring at him skeptically, he had forgotten how stubborn he could be at times. “Might I suggest some warm coffee sir? A new coffee shop just opened up down the block, I would not mind getting you a cup.” Daniel suggested helping Jose stand to his feet as he steadied himself . Looking over at Daniel with a sense of gratitude, he patted him on the shoulder softly. “I'll go on my own Daniel, thank you.” He moved to put on his suit from where it lay hanging. If he didn't do something Daniel would continue bickering at him plus, he needed the fresh air either way. “Take care of the rest.” He said and Daniel nodded silently before he disappeared out of the room. He managed to navigate his way to the coffee shop, it had been quite sometime since he did anything close to relaxing. It was always from work to home, and even when he was home, he still preferred to work. He let out a deep sigh with his hands in his navy blue suit pockets as he was lost in thought. He walked briskly towards the entrance of the coffee shop not taking note of what was in front of him before suddenly crashing into someone.
