“Penny for your thoughts?” I looked up from the page I had been staring at for the past hour to see Jacob, leaning against the door frame. My mind was still preoccupied with Lola and her hand. “Adelaide, what's wrong?” He asked as his expression morphed from curiosity to concern. Pushing off the frame, he walked over, lifted my legs and sat down before placing my legs onto his lap. His touch sending waves of pleasure across my skin. I swallowed hard, setting the book aside. “D-do you know Lola? The pastry shop owner?” I asked, he nodded, brows furrowed. “Yes, the owner of Little Delights, the shop has been in her family for generations. What about her? Did something happen?” I nodded, nibbling on my bottom lip. “Delilah and I went for a walk and we decided to check out the shop.
