"No!" I screamed as I watched as It tore the little girl apart like she was a doll. "Stop! Please!" So much blood. Must...kill... The beast stopped and turned to me, it's bloodshot eyes darkening with a desire to kill. Slowly, it started walking towards me. "I-I know this isn't you, Dylan!" I sobbed, backing away from the man I found a mate. "I-I want my mate back! Please!" "Anah shi petrolim," the beast whispered and pounced. I woke up, sweating and screaming as tears fell down my face. I began shaking and I cried, burying my face in my knees. Seconds later, my bedroom door was open and I saw Dylan standing in the doorway, sweating. Although I wasn't looking at him, I could tell he was there because I could smell his scent and sweat. "Sh-Shouldn't you be on patrol?" I asked him, not moving from my spot on the bed. "My mate senses were tingling," he replied and I heard my door close. "Are you okay?" I nodded my head, "I-It was just a nightmare." "Doesn't seem like just a nightmare," he said. "I'm going to have a quick shower." It was quick. He was in there for about five minutes before coming out with a pair of sweatpants on. He sat on my bed and pulled me to his chest, resting his cheek on the top of my head. "What happened?" He asked me quietly. "It all happened so fast," I murmured. "I was watching a beast tear a little girl apart... but when I told it to stop your name came out of my mouth." Dylan was rigid but let me continue. "When I told you to stop, you said something in another language. It was like, 'anna she petroleum', or some s**t -- then the dream ended." There was a long silence. The only sounds that were heard were mine and Dylan's breathing. Dylan pulled me impossibly close to his body and kissed the top of my head. "It was a dream," he mumbled. "You're okay, yeah? I'm not going to--" "Turn into a monster that's larger than me with purple flames and tear me and a little girl apart?" Dylan huffed and laid down with me, our legs tangled with one another while Dylan's arm was my pillow, his other arm wrapped securely around my waist. "Yeah," he mumbled. "I promise." "Pinky swear?" I asked and turned myself around, holding my pinky out while staring into his golden eyes. Dylan chuckled. "Pinky swear," he said and our pinkies linked. After a few seconds, he kissed the back of my hand and rest his head on mine. "Goodnight, love." "Wake me in the morning after you do," I murmured tiredly. "Okay." ----- "You lied." Dylan turned to me with a grin and walked towards me. I backed away slowly until I was against a wall. He was in front of me and pressed his lips against mine gently. "I didn't want you to know I was making it," he reasoned and carried me to the counter. "I'm sorry, love." I rolled my eyes and smiled, pecking his lips. "You know I forgive you." He smiled and a timer went off. Dylan opened the oven door and the smell of freshly-baked brownies filled my nostrils. I hummed and closed my eyes, my mouth watering. "Damn. That smells like some good brownie," Brianna's voice said and sat next to me. "Give me one." "And have you burn your tongue?" Dylan said with a raised eyebrow, handing one to her. "Of course." "You're awful," she mumbled and rolled her eyes, biting into the brownie. "Like, seriously. You're awful at everything; even cooking." She glanced down at her brownies and slowly put it down. When Dylan turned back to the stove, she picked it up and shoved it in her mouth. "There's one I'm not awful at and that's making Aria cu--" "Finish that sentence and I'll shove your d**k up your ass," I warned with a glare, smacking his shoulder. Brianna snorted and shook her head before sliding off of the counter and heading towards the front door. "I have a job to get to," she said. "And Owen wanted me to remind you to go to the pups you said you would go to yesterday." Dylan groaned, "When?" "NOW!" He sighed and turned back to me, kissing me quickly. "I'll be back in a couple of hours, love," he said as I walked him out. "I'll see you in a bit." I nodded and kissed his cheek. "Bye," I said. "Bye." He closed the door and I immediately felt depressed and lonely. I feel like that was something normal though, considering shadow hounds were different from werewolves. Walking around the house, I decided to explore. I came across a door with a golden handle and, because I'm a curious person, I opened it. Nothing was in the room but a couch and piano. A giant window rest behind the instrument and I closed the door behind me, walking to the piano and sliding on the seat. Slowly, I put my fingers on the keys and began playing. I felt so at ease now. I forgot about all worries; shadow hounds, nightmares, rogue attacks -- I didn't have to worry about it at all as my fingers pressed against the keys and made the tune. Humming to myself, I closed my eyes and continued to play. While playing, I didn't hear anything until the door burst open, five large, masked men coming in. My eyes darted in the direction of the loud noise and I immediately stood up, grabbing the closest thing to me. "Who are you!?" I demanded, fear not evident in my voice. "Get her," one of them ordered and the four others immediately charged at me. I ran across the room and grabbed a vase, throwing it in the direction of the men. I successfully hit one directly on the head and he stumbled to the ground, knocked out. They stopped running for a minute and looked at him. I took that as my chance to sprint across the room where another door lay. I kicked it open and it revealed a broom. I snapped it in half and threw it like a spear directly at one. He hollered with pain as it pierced his chest. He looked down at the broom and fell to the ground, dead. "Dylan! There are rogues in the house!" I mindlinked him quickly and threw the other one at another trespasser, leaving him bleeding to death. "I'm on my way with backup! Hold them off while you can!" "Ok--" I screamed as I was thrown across the room, smashing against the wall. I felt my back burn with pain and I let out a loud gasp when I stood up. Two men stalked towards me and plunged something into my neck I knew it was salt. How did they know? I screamed out as a deathly pain travelled through my body, and fell to the floor, tears rolling down my cheeks as the fluid continued through my veins. "You f*****g bastards!" I screamed out and tried standing up. I collapsed once again, splotches of black beginning to ruin my vision. "Take her to the van." *Dylan's POV* (Surprise!!) I ran to the house as fast as I could. I didn't care about the cramps that I got after running for forty minutes without stopping or the feeling of my heart tightening painfully in my chest as I continued to run to the house. I heard a car honk and turned to see Owen in a jeep with five other people. "Get in!" I jumped in the jeep and immediately began to hyperventilate. I ran my hands through my hair and could feel tears brimming in my eyes as I remembered the pure fear in my mate's voice as she mindlinked me. When we arrived at the house, I jumped out of the jeep and ran towards the house. The door was knocked down and my heart began beating even faster. "ARIA!" I yelled, looking through the rooms. "WE FOUND A DOOR KNOCKED DOWN OVER HERE!" Someone yelled and I followed the sound of their voices up the stairs. When I checked into the room, my eyes went wide. There was one man with glass shards around his body, and two other impaled with a-- "Is that a broom?" Ian, my delta, asked. "Your mate must be strong as hell. They didn't even get halfway across the room to the closet before being killed -- she must have thrown the brooms." I couldn't help but grin. My girl knows how to fight. "Look around the room for evidence of who took her," I ordered. "And take that bastard to the cellars. I'll deal with him later." Everyone nodded and I looked at a particular area of the room where a syringe and a piece of paper was. I walked towards it and picked up the paper, opening it. I'll give you the girl if you give me what I've been asking for. xo I felt my body go rigid and my heart began pounding. I thought back to the last time when I got a message like this. Always an anonymous. Last time, I didn't know what it was and I ended up in the hospital for over six months. This time, they took my mate. What were they going to do to her? "Alpha Dylan?" Ian called out. I looked back at him, replying, "What?" "There's car tracks that lead into the forest." I sighed with relief and ran to the window. He was right. I'm coming to get you, Aria.
