Diego stared at her, wondering why she had asked about that word. He didn't want to ask, but he was not the type to let his curiosity eat away at him. He faced it head on.
"Why did you ask me about that word?"
She looked up at him, the look in her eyes making it seem like she was contemplating whether to talk or not.
He didn't rush her, he just listened.
Finally, she spoke up. "I don't know why Vincenzo didn't say anything to you about it but... Chase came to see me this night and he was asking me questions about the gala. Vincenzo didn't know about this part, he hadn't arrived yet.
"I managed to be as evasive as I could be while answering him but he seemed to still have some doubt. Then Vincenzo came and he had a little argument with Chase."
