Rebecca didn’t know how to respond to his question, so she asked a question of her own. “Have you already discussed with Diego tonight?”
Chase’s lips curved into a smirk. “Why? Is there something you shouldn’t say to me?”
She shook her head. “Not at all, I’m just wondering why you’re asking me and not Diego. Also, it’s very weird that you were a no-show for such an event. It was a bit fun with new people and all, but too crowded for me.”
Chase stared at her lips as the words left them, like he was looking for any signs of a slight trembling or biting, but the words left her mouth with perfect alignment, and there wasn’t a single sign to show how nervous she was about lying.
