I grabbed my supplies from the overhead bin and exited the train. Only 2 other students got off. I recognized one as a main tormenter of mine- Dylan and the other as a floozy girl who practically dry h****d any man of power- Ashley.
“Hey wolfy- didn’t know you were also coming here. Doggie needed to run?” Dylan tried to grab my hair but Ana let out a feral growl and he retracted his arm. Ana and I had an agreement that she wouldn’t attack anyone unless they laid a hand on her. Perhaps Dylan needed a reminder. Dylan for whatever reason had picked on us all the way from grade school through high school. Seemed that he would be continuing through college.
“Just leave her, Dylan. We have more important things to deal with here” I could’ve swore I saw Ashley send me a remorseful look but as soon as I looked at her again it was gone.
“I’ll do what I want, Ashley. Don’t forget you’re here as a favor to my dad. Know your place” he shrugged off the hand she tried to lay on him and stormed off. She looked after him for a moment before she turned to me.
“Tiana, Help me with our things” she commanded with her regular haughty expression. I knew she wanted me to use my magic. Dylan had left and Ashley despite her attitude lacked in the magic department.
She was a siren and her ability to attract men was really her only skill.
I just nodded and snapped my wrist to bring the luggage out. It floated off into our rooms with a snap of my wrist. It was frankly easier to just give her what she wanted and move on.
She seemed like she wanted to thank me but thought better of it and just turned and walked off.
I sighed and pulled up a map of the school. The only thing I requested of my mother before I left was a cell phone, my uniform, and the required texts. Everything was left of my bed the day I left. I didn’t want to be indebted to her so I decided I would find a way to pay her back before the school year ended.
I zoomed in on my building and started off that way. The dormitories were co-Ed but boys slept on the second floor. I found my room and pulled open the door.
I came face to face with a true monster. Ana huddled in the back of my mind and I was paralyzed with fear.
Hearing the door open the literal grim reaper turned to look at me. I wanted to fall and beg for mercy but before I could blink the terrifying monster was gone and a small mousy girl was in her place.
“Oh my goddess I’m so sorry to have scared you. I have to take on my true form to speak to my family. I know it can be alarming the first time you see it” the girl was fumbling over her words as she played with her hands.
“Oh um so I guess we’re sharing a room now. I’m Alyssa grim. Grim reapers daughter I’m sure you can tell” she smiled warmly at me. Noting my silence her smile quickly fell and she became nervous again.
I felt bad instantly realizing she must’ve felt like I was ignoring her. I quickly grabbed my pen and paper and scribbled my name on it. Trying my best to give her a proper smile.
“Oh you’re deaf. I’m glad. I didn’t mean to scare you really. I hope we can be friends. There’s a lot of dead people in the dark realm and not many of them are friendly.” She smiled.
I opened the window and watched as my bag came sailing through the window and into the closet. Alyssa looked gobsmacked by the magic mania surrounding us.
“So you’re a witch then? I didn’t get those vibes” she gave me a sly look.
I pulled my pen and paper out and merely wrote that I was fae. I didn’t particularly feel like explaining I was the royal b*****d child from the fairy realm.
She squealed and tried to grab my back looking for my wings. Ana let out a warning growl and she stumbled back. Our wings were retractable and I rarely let them out.
“Oh you’re a wolf too? I didn’t know the fae intermingled outside their territory. That’s cool tho. Magic wolfy abilities” Ana realized this girl wasn’t a threat to us and settled back into my head.
“Come let’s go explore the grounds a little before announcements start” Alyssa grabbed my hand and dragged me from the room. Ana was tolerating the touch albeit I could feel her fur bristling.
“Any boys catch your eye? The boys here are so much cuter than the dark realm boys. They all look emo…or dead” Alyssa chattered on about how sexy the vamps looked.
I tried to listen to the conversation but I couldn’t relate much. Fae were gorgeous creatures. The men here weren’t bad but they couldn’t be compared. My eyes roared around the hall until they landed on Dylan. He was surrounded by what I could assume were other fae. Some of them seemed like wolves though. I can’t imagine why he would associate himself with my kind.
He suddenly seemed on alert and looked around til his eye caught mine. His stare was a little too intense for my liking so I looked away.
I watched as some football players walked in. They all seemed to be wolves. I guess they played the best because of our abilities. Trailing behind them was a boy who was aggressively texting on his phone. He seemed important and no one was bothering him.
Once he looked up my breathe hitched. Ana stirred in my mind to peer through my eyes. Time seemed to stop for a moment of us staring at each other. Ana seemed intrigued and wished for us to go to him.
Before I realized it my legs were carrying me towards him. I was almost in front of him when one of the beefier wolves stood in front of me. He nearly knocked me over and Ana growled furiously making him submit in seconds. I looked up and noticed all of them were staring at me in some form of shock. Especially the mystery boy who drew me in.
“Holy f**k how did you do that? That guy is a beta at least and he’s 3 times your size” Alyssa clearly didn’t know when to be quiet as now all the wolves were looking at me with some level of skepticism. The mystery boy still just looked intrigued.
“Stand down, guys. She can’t hurt any of us.” The mystery boy spoke. He seemed to be battling something behind his eye but he won whatever it was. “What is your name?” He leaned down so close to me that we nearly bumped heads. I felt compelled to answer him but my voice was mangled and he looked concerned for a second and then annoyed.
I pulled out my paper and wrote down my name. Why he wanted it I wasn’t sure but I wanted to please him.
“Tiana Westin…” he tasted my name on his tongue and I nearly turned to jelly. “This may hurt and I’m sorry but I can’t have you.” His eyes were pinched and I became confused. “I alpha Ryland Westbrook reject you Tiana Westin, as my mate and Luna” I watched as his eyes held untold agony.
My body started to feel very hot and I heard Ana whimpering in my head. I looked down at my hands and realized they were burning. He was hurting Ana and I wouldn’t tolerate it.
I grabbed his hand before I realized and he crumpled to the ground but I wouldn’t let go. I may not be able to speak but I knew I could talk this way.
Stop hurting Ana or I will burn you to cinders
His eyes went wide at my voice. I knew only he could hear it and I stopped time so only we were witnessing this.
“I rescind! I rescind my rejection!” I let his hand go as I felt Ana’s whimpering subside. I started time again and he stumbled back cradling his arm. Everyone still looked at us shocked. Right they all thought he had rejected me still. I crumbled to the ground and pretended to be affected. I glared at him from the corner of my eye and watched as he hid his arm and shuffled out of the room.
“I’m sorry Ana” I whispered to her. She was still crumpled on the ground in my mind. I could fix her physical pain but not the mental anguish.
“Me too.” She whined putting her paws over her face.
I felt a hand on my back but before Ana could react amazing tingles spread through my body and I jolted up. I came face to face with Dylan. He looked as shocked as I did and looked back down to his hand. We both just stared at each other digesting what this meant. We were fated. Fated by the fairies. I didn’t know much about wolves but I knew you ever threw away your fated as most don’t ever find theres. Dylan looked conflicted but eventually he just turned and walked away. I felt my heart squeeze at this. Ana and I both were rejected in a way.
