Chapter 6

811 Words
Emma held on tightly to Arthur's arm and said with difficulty, "Yes." Arthur's eyes turned bloodshot and were filled with hatred as he gazed at Emma. There was disappointment and disgust in his gaze. "If I went there much later, she'd be dead!" What? Emma was shocked. How was it possible? Emma didn't quite understand. Aria had still been alright last night when she had cried for Arthur to accompany her over the phone. She had merely hung up the phone and that had led to a serious matter? "I don't know." "It was you who left her to die. Aria asked me for help as she was robbed and almost got r***d. At the last moment, she called me, but you answered the call. Not only did you not save her, but you also didn't call the police. If it weren't for her desperately resisting, she would have been r***d. She is now in the ICU of the hospital and has just been rescued. When did you become so cruel?" Arthur tightly grabbed Emma's neck as if he wanted her to die with Aria. This was not how it happened last night. How could it be possible that Aria had been r***d? It was clearly a trap. "She didn't ask for my help, nor did she get r***d. The reason she called me was simply to let you go and accompany her." Emma stared into Arthur's eyes. He could not trust her. On the contrary, he could not wait for Emma to die immediately. "You're lying. Did you think Aria would hurt herself? Emma, why are you lying?" Arthur shook Emma off in disgust. Falling down on the ground, she felt painful all over her body, but the pain in her heart would never heal. She cried feebly and hugged Arthur's leg, begging, "Arthur, would you believe me this time? I really didn't leave her to die." Showing only his back to her, Arthur shook off Emma's hand and said in a meaningful voice, "We've known each other for so many years. I don't hate you, but I've never loved you." Arthur's words hit right at Emma's heart. Arthur had never loved her. With a dull thud, the door was slammed shut, and Emma knew that Arthur would not come back. Staring at the half-knitted scarf on the floor, Emma picked it up and brushed off the dust on it. She should finish what had been done halfway. Staying up late, Emma concentrated on finishing the scarf. She embroidered "Emma" on the edge of the scarf, indicating that it was made by her. Emma and Arthur did not see each other for half a month. On the contrary, Emma was lethargic and she told Grace about her condition. Grace was so worried that she took Emma to the hospital. Emma had a medical examination in the hospital, and the doctor directed her to go to the gynecology department. After a series of examinations, the doctor announced that she was pregnant. Emma's initial bad mood turned better quickly. She looked up at the doctor in shock. "Is it true? Am I pregnant?" "Yes." The doctor nodded confidently but he continued in distress, "It will be very difficult for you to keep the baby now, and it may even pose a threat to your life. It's better to abort the baby and treat the cancer as soon as possible. The treatment can't be delayed." "No, I'm going to give birth to the baby." Emma said as she stroked her belly. Her face was glowing with a mother's love. After knowing that Emma was pregnant, Grace was also elated. Since both of them were pregnant, they had a common topic for discussion. "You've been married for five years, so it's time for you to have a baby. Why don't you call Arthur to let him know of this happy news?" Grace said happily. Emma shook her head. "There's no need. I don't think he'll be happy." "What are you talking about? Doesn't he want a child?" "No, he doesn't like children." "Forget it, we can't rely on him. Emma, I'll take care of you in the future. You and Arthur can get a divorce." Grace's heart ached for Emma as she held Emma's hand and said. "What about your husband?" "He is not as important as you." "Okay, when I get divorced, you will take care of me," Emma replied with a smile. Coincidentally, Arthur, who was sitting opposite them, overheard their words clearly. Aria had been staying in the hospital for half a month, so Arthur had been watching over her for half a month. He didn't expect to see Emma when he came out. Upon hearing Emma and Grace's words, his face turned very ugly. He did not agree to a divorce yet, but they were too eager to do so.
