When Emma returned home, she was shocked to see Arthur lying on the sofa. She thought Arthur wouldn't come back. He looked so pale that she couldn't help but stretch out her hand to touch his forehead. Arthur immediately grabbed Emma's hand and shouted, "Emma, is that you?"
Emma pulled her hand away without answering him. She thought they wouldn't have any contact after their divorce.
However, his forehead was very hot. He must have had a fever. So, she poured a glass of water and gave some cold medicine to Arthur. He took it obediently and instinctively pulled on Emma's sleeve.
Emma turned her back on him, a complicated look in her eyes. Since he had decided to let her go, why did he still hold her back?
"Emma," Arthur yelled.
Hearing Arthur's call, Emma finally compromised. She put down the glass and squatted down to hold Arthur's hand. "I'm here."
Arthur's breathing became peaceful. He seemed to be at ease after listening to Emma's voice and fell asleep peacefully.
Looking at Arthur's handsome face, Emma felt a little sad. He had told her he would never fall in love with her again and that he regretted knowing her the most, yet at his most vulnerable moment, he got into her heart again.
"What exactly do you want, Arthur?" Emma asked him quietly.
Emma stayed at Arthur's side all night and only fell into a deep sleep after Arthur's fever subsided.
The next morning, the doorbell rang. When Emma went to open the door, she saw Aria standing there.
Aria was a little shocked. She thought Emma had left without saying goodbye, yet she was still there.
Emma subconsciously closed the door when she saw Aria at the doorstep, but Aria blocked the door.
"Emma, what kind of tricks are you playing again? Didn't you say you were going to leave? Why are you still here? I suppose you're manipulating Arthur's feelings again to make him stay with you!"
"Who was the one that manipulated Arthur? I think you know that more than I do," Emma said mockingly.
Aria was angry. She didn't want Arthur to stay there. If Arthur woke up there, his old feelings for Emma would be rekindled. She pushed Emma harshly aside and barged in. Seeing Arthur lying on the sofa, she quickly went over and shouted, "Arthur, what's wrong with you?"
"What did you do to him, Emma?" Aria asked warily.
"He has a fever. He just took some medicine."
"I'll find someone to take him to my place. I hope you know not to disturb both Arthur's and my life in the future."
After Aria hung up the phone, Arthur was carried away. At this moment, Arthur shouted for Emma, but Emma didn't hear it. She had a stomachache again and she was in the bedroom alone, enduring the agony. Emma had never taken any medicine as she was pregnant, and she was afraid that the medicine would have side effects on the child. So she chose to endure the excruciating pain that no ordinary person could bear.
She vomited a lot of blood again. Looking at her own pale face in the mirror, she hoped she could hold on until the birth of the baby.
Arthur woke up at Aria's home. He clearly remembered returning to Emma's residence and seeing Emma. How did it suddenly become Aria?
Aria's eyes were red and she asked nervously, "Arthur, are you feeling better? You had a fever yesterday, and I took care of you all night."
"You were the one who took care of me last night?" Arthur asked in confusion. Why did he think it was Emma?
"Yes, I've been taking care of you all night. Fortunately, you've recovered from the fever. Please don't do something stupid like this again in the future, okay? It broke my heart."
Arthur couldn't bear to see Aria sad, so he put his arm around Aria's waist to comfort her. "It won't happen again. I won't let you worry about me anymore."
"But you had a fever because of Emma. Did you fall in love with her? Arthur, have you ever put me in your heart?" Aria felt more aggrieved as she continued, "Why are you still so obsessed with her when she has been treating me so badly?"
Aria's accusation caused Arthur to feel guilty. She was right. He still had feelings for Emma, and it would be unfair to Aria if he continued to care for Emma on and off.
"I'm sorry, Aria. I won't see Emma ever again."
Arthur held Aria's arm. "Let's get married."
"Really?" Aria was overjoyed.
Arthur smiled dotingly and caressed Aria's face.
"Yes."
