Chapter 10

857 Words
Arthur dragged Emma away from the car. Emma lost her balance and almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, Lucas supported her. Emma looked back at Arthur as she didn't understand his action. "Arthur, don't forget that you are getting a divorce today," Lucas reminded. Arthur said coldly, "Emma is still my wife before we get a divorce. I can't tolerate any outsider meddling in her business!" Emma was then dragged into Arthur's car. Emma struggled, but she couldn't free herself from Arthur's grip. She shouted, "What is the meaning of this? Let me go." Arthur sneered and turned to stare at Emma. "No wonder you wanted to get a divorce. You have already thrown yourself into Lucas's arms. Do you think that since no one loves you, you could look for Lucas? You have a change of heart really fast." Arthur's sarcasm made Emma's face turn pale. She didn't want to be alone and at least Lucas was better in treating her than him. "How about you? He was much better than you as you've never paid attention to me." Upon hearing that, Arthur was speechless and drove the car silently. The depressive atmosphere in the car made it hard for Emma to breathe. She rolled down the window to let the cold breeze blow on her face to wake her up. "Am I really free now?" she thought. Emma's eyes were blurred with tears, but she didn't dare to cry in front of Arthur. She didn't want him to think that she was reluctant or that she was pretending or that it was her who suggested a divorce, yet pretended to be wronged. It seemed that after loving him so much until being submissive and humble, she still didn't manage to get him to love her. On their way, Emma suddenly felt a sharp pain in her abdomen, as if she had been pricked by a needle. She felt extremely uncomfortable, and her face turned pale as she clutched tightly at her stomach. Noticing that something was wrong, Arthur turned around and saw that Emma was sweating profusely. He quickly stopped the car and asked, "Are you okay?" "Send me to the hospital," Emma grabbed Arthur's hand and pleaded. "My stomach hurts. I'm worried that something might happen to the child." Arthur frowned. This child came so suddenly, but he couldn't stand watching Emma suffer from pain. He immediately took her to the hospital. "Mr. Blackwood, the fetus in Mrs. Blackwood's womb is unstable. She has to be hospitalized for a few days." With a pale face, Emma laid on the bed and covered her stomach with her hands. As long as the child was still alive, there was always hope for her. Arthur's expression was complicated as he said coldly, "I'm going out for a moment." When there was no one in the ward, Elliot came in with a medical report in his hand. He asked solemnly, "Emma, do you know that you are in the final stage of gastric cancer?" She didn't want to talk about the cancer, the death, or the pain. She had thought of everything, and she didn't regret her decision. "I know. I may not live for more than ten months." "Is Arthur aware of this?" Brandon asked. "He doesn't know," Emma lowered her eyes, and she didn't intend to tell him. "Please don't tell him that. When I am alive, I hope he is unaware of all these. It would be much better for him to think that I would only pester him for ten months, and then he would get a divorce. At least, he wouldn't feel guilty." As she spoke, Emma started sobbing. She had loved Arthur for 13 years, but she did not feel tired at all. However, when she found out that she only had 10 months left, she shed tears in bitterness. Arthur did not love her, but it did not matter to her as she believed that she would be able to live for Arthur with her determination. "Why must you go through so much trouble?" Brandon sighed. "If you were me, you would do the same. I don't want him to feel guilty. For me, death is a sad matter, so I don't want him to bear the sadness. Maybe he will feel relieved after knowing that I would die, but I can't afford letting him know." This was the way that Emma loved Arthur. Like moths flying toward the light, she would love him until her final breath. Emma's body was getting better. She was very careful in terms of the child's well-being, as she had to give birth to him with the last bit of strength she had. Arthur sent a message to Emma asking her to go to the rooftop. Emma had not seen Arthur the whole day. When she found out that Arthur was on the rooftop, she struggled clumsily to the rooftop. The wind was blowing strongly on the rooftop that Emma felt a chill down her spine. She looked around, but there was no sign of Arthur. Instead, she saw Aria standing in front of her.
