Chapter 20

"Okay, then I'll make the promise with Emma. Emma is about to give birth anyway, and by then our relationship will be tighter," Grace said with a smile, making everyone embarrassed. Arthur then took out a few invitation cards and gave them to everyone. "Aria and I are getting married. Don't forget to come. It'll be on the first day of next month." It seemed like a big slap on Emma's face and she could not even cry out in pain. Aria smiled shyly. "You are Arthur's best friends. I hope to be blessed by you." The color drained from Emma's face. Listening to her ex-husband announcing his marriage had been embarrassing for Emma. She took the invitation card and opened it. Looking at the wedding photo on it, she smiled sarcastically. She remembered that she and Arthur had gotten married in a rush, so their marriage hadn't been grand. They didn't even have a wedding photo. Grace pounded the table and stood up. She couldn't help saying, "Arthur, do you have any conscience? How could you send an invitation at this time? What kind of vixen is the woman beside you? You are so smitten by her that you can't wait to marry her!" Upon hearing her words, everyone's face changed, especially Arthur, who frowned with deep displeasure. He could tolerate Grace because she was Brandon's wife, but he didn't want to hide his anger when she accused him and Aria. He raised his head and said coldly, "How did Aria provoke you? You and Emma are good friends. I can understand if there's any dissatisfaction from you, but don't bring any personal prejudice to Aria." "Personal prejudice? What discrimination can I have when you don't have any conscience?" Grace asked angrily. Emma did not want to see the situation turning bad so she took Grace's hand and said, "Grace, sit down. There are so many people looking at you. Aren't you afraid of making a fool of yourself?" "I just want to let them know how these *ssholes had let you down. Arthur, don't use amnesia as an excuse. You're a jerk and you treated Emma badly. If you regain your memory in the future, don't think about asking Emma for forgiveness. You don't deserve it at all," Grace said agitatedly. "That's enough, Grace!" Emma didn't want Grace to continue as she was afraid that Grace might expose all the truth. "You don't have to worry about me!" Grace looked back at Emma. She just wanted to stand up for Emma, but she was disappointed to be treated this way by Emma. Emma didn't want the situation to worsen, so she said in a panic, "I need to go out for a while. You can continue eating." Emma didn't expect the situation to turn bad. Walking out of the restaurant, she covered her face. She couldn't stand having a depressing atmosphere like today. It was not the right time to visit Grace today, as she didn't expect to see Arthur. She turned around only to notice Arthur standing behind her. Emma stopped her pace but she turned around again pretending that she didn't notice him. "How's the child?" Arthur asked coolly without any expression on his face. "Very good." The tone of Emma's voice was even colder. The intensity of her hatred for Arthur came from how deep she had loved him. "How did you lose so much weight? Are you having a bad time?" Arthur asked again. "My life has nothing to do with you." Emma wanted to leave. She glanced at Grace in the restaurant and planned to leave without saying goodbye. "I'm leaving. Can you help me inform Grace?" Just as Emma was about to leave, Arthur grabbed her arm. Turning her head to stare at Arthur, she asked, "What do you want? We're divorced so even if something really happens to me, it's no longer your business." Emma's face was much paler than before. Arthur noticed her abnormal condition as it was different from before. "It's not so cold to put on a hat and you only had a few mouthfuls of porridge just now. Are you not feeling well? Is there anything you're hiding from me?" Emma suddenly smiled and asked calmly, "If I said I had cancer, do you believe me?" Arthur let go of her hand and pursed his thin lips. "This joke is not funny at all." "Arthur, I don't love you anymore, so don't pester me," Emma turned her head with tears in her eyes. Even if they greet each other later, there would no longer be any affection between them. When Emma was walking away from Arthur, he opened his mouth and asked, "Emma, I've been having a headache lately but you kept on appearing in my mind. Why is that so?" Arthur didn't understand at all. He didn't love Emma and he liked Aria. Yet, Emma had appeared more frequently in his mind, which didn't seem to be normal for his case. Arthur was puzzled and wanted to find an answer. After he told Emma, he still couldn't get any explanation. Emma's tears streamed down her eyes and her knuckles turned pale. "I wish you and Aria well. Don't say these useless things to me. I don't love you anymore." "I hope you can find your own happiness," Arthur said. After being entangled with each other for so many years, it was time to end the relationship between him and Emma. He only hoped that Emma would live a better life, at least better than staying with him. Emma wiped away her tears and said with a smile, "I'm going to be with Lucas. You know that he has always loved me. He treated me better than you do and he is the most suitable man for me. I should have been more open-minded. I had been stupid not to let you go. Don't worry about me because I've found happiness and I'm happier now than when I was with you."
