APRIL After washing my hands, I step out of the bathroom and pause in the corridor, glancing left and right. Everything lines up with what Lieutenant Sloan said. Diablo Romano really did wipe out the Rossi Cartel. Every last one of them. That realization sits heavy in my chest. The man who saved me tonight is the same man who ended so many lives. Tortured them. He commands men who fear him, not because they respect him, but because they are terrified of what he might do. That alone should be enough to make my decision clear.
