  The ground dipped right in front of me. I hadn't been expecting it at all. One second it was there and the next it disappeared. My body plunged forward, and into the water, flowing swiftly through the channel.   I fell into an arroyo, a useful tool here in the desert for getting rid of the water from rainstorms such as these. However, the rain was falling very fast and very heavy. Which meant the stream in the arroyo was anything but lazy or slow. No, it flowed swiftly like a river, and I got swept along by it with no ability to stop myself.   "Aahahh!" I struggled to breathe when my face broke the surface of the water.
