After leaving Sidney's house, I was in a daze, letting James lead me back to his place.
In the car, James kept apologizing to me, telling me how sorry he was about last night, blaming himself for not protecting me. He repeatedly swore that once he caught the "culprit", he wouldn’t let him get away with it!
I didn’t reply to him, nor did I have the energy to think about it.
I felt horrible, like all my strength had been drained. Each step felt like walking on cotton, weak and unsteady. I held myself together, not letting the tears fall.
The image of Sidney pushing me away kept replaying in my mind, and his rejection cut into my heart like a sharp blade, repeatedly tearing at me.
