Chapter 2: Damien Rose   “Hmph. He thought he could get me to quit by bullying me… well then!” I began talking to myself as I look at his juicy-licious picture on my phone, “Let the games begin!”   Pouting my lower lip, I locked my phone and looked straight ahead and telling the taxi driver, “Please hurry up, Sir. I need to be there earlier than him.”   The old man then smirked at me, “Don’t worry, little miss… I know all the shortcuts here.”   I narrowed my eyes at him, “Hey grandpa. I know all your tricks. I’ll pay you double if we get there first.”   Suddenly, his ears perked and he looked at me through his rearview mirror and nodded once, “Atta girl.”   ---   Like I said so, Mr. Rose and his driver’s eyes widened as soon as they saw me standing in front of the studio building with my arms crossed.   I smiled sweetly at them while I blinked my eyes innocently, “Oh, what happened? Traffic jam?”   “No.” He said through his gritted teeth. I saw Mr. Rose’s jaw clenched before he looked behind his driver deadly.   He immediately bowed down his head, “I apologize, Mr. Rose.”   “I don’t pay you for nothing, Joe.” He coldly scolded him, “If I find out that the man who drove her here is older than you, you’re fired.”   “I’m sorry, Sir. It will not happen again.” He respectfully bowed lower.   His lips twitched, “It better be.”   Stretching my lips in victory, I skipped my way towards him. “Well then, Mr. Rose. Why don’t we come inside and get you ready for your shoot?”   He said nothing and just glared at me before purposely bumping his big arm on my side.   Dang, he’s strong.   I clicked my tongue, “Tch. What a bad sport.” I then smiled at the driver and waved my hand at him before skipping inside the studio.   After introducing myself as Mr. Rose’s personal assistant, everyone had different kinds of reactions. Some of their jaws dropped, the others sneered at me while most of them began to take out their money and bet for how long I will stay.   I made sure to place my bet, too. “Here, I bet that I’ll be staying for a year or more. Make sure to count them accurately and write them down!” I jolly said.   Their eyes widened at me while I just scrunched my cute little nose at them before walking away.   Immediately coming inside of Mr. Rose’s room, I saw him sitting on the high chair while a makeup artist began clipping his hair away from his face.   My smile stretched once I saw Mr. Rose’s eyes pierce at me through the reflection on the mirror. “Hello, Mr. Rose. Long time, no see.”   He rolled his eyes coldly.   With my hands placed behind my back, I went to his side and watched the makeup artist begin with his foundation.   My eyes widen, “Yo, Ms. Artist!” I surprisingly called her.   She flinched, “W-What is it?”   I sighed deeply as I took her wrist before pointing at one side of Damien’s cheek, “Look carefully! That’s not his color!”   The artist’s eyes widen, seeing the darker shade on the man’s skin. “Oh my! I’m so sorry!” She panicked, immediately taking a makeup remover and cotton.   Mr. Rose just glared at her.   I pressed my lips, “Fine. Let me help you.” While the makeup artist was cleaning the wrong foundation off his cheek, I began mixing the colors to perfect this man’s bronze color.   “Seems like you know how to use cosmetics.” He suddenly speaks.   I nodded my head as I mix them in a plate, “Yes.”   “If you do know how, then why are you walking around near me with your face bare like that? It’s ugly.”   The makeup artist froze.   I froze.   He smirked.   Before losing my cool, I shook my head side to side before forcing myself to smile. I placed down the plate with the perfect color for his skin and told the makeup artist that I’ll be doing the base of his makeup myself.   She nodded her head before leaving the room, as she could feel the tension rising between us.   Once the door was closed, I turned around and took a foundation brush, dipping it before placing some at the back of my hand. I could feel his eyes on me, and I didn’t care if he was sending me daggers.   Facing him, I dipped the brush on some product while I spoke, “Do you know how to paint, Mr. Rose?”   He shook his head, “No. But I have a lot of paintings at home.”   “Ah…” I nodded my head before rolling my eyes to see him. “Do you think artists like them have to go out in public with paint on their faces?” I went closer to him.   He shook his head coolly, “Of course not. Why would they do that?”   “Exactly.” I smiled at him innocently before pinching his chin with my two fingers and raising it up harshly. His head snapped up while his eyes widened slightly. I then began to gently brush the product on his cheek, “The same with us who knows how to use cosmetics. We paint, but we have the right to go out in public without painting our faces with makeup. But you wouldn’t know that, would you?” I looked deep into his eyes, “After all, you’re just a blank canvas who needs our help to look beautiful.”   His eyes sharpened.   I smiled at him innocently.   Silence filled the room and it was somehow helping me out to draw the lines between us. He should know that, yes, I am a big fan of his, but that doesn’t mean that I’ll let him disrespect me like this.   I may not look beautiful, but at least I have the right to be respected.   My phone suddenly rang, breaking the tension between us. I then pulled away from him and checked who it was.   The corner of my lips slightly curved upwards. I then went to a corner of the room, “Yes babe?”   Hearing me, Damien’s brows rose and he turned his chair to look at me while on the phone.   “Hold on, I’ll get out for a second,” I told Dylan while I walked out of the room and told the makeup artist who was on standby outside to continue Mr. Rose’s makeup.   I then went to the emergency staircase before replying back to my boyfriend, “Sorry, Dylan. I just had to get some things done. What is it you need to tell me?”   “Uhm…” He nervously spoke through the phone, “A-are you free now?”   I nodded my head, replying to him in delight, “Yes. I’m just waiting for Mr. Rose to get his makeup done. I’m free for now, why?”   Suddenly, I could hear him swallow a lump on his throat.   My brows furrowed, “What’s wrong, babe?”   He was silent for a while.   It made me curious. Why was he being this silent? “Dylan? Are you okay? What’s the problem? What did you want to tell me—”   “Let’s break up.” He cut me off.   I froze.   My brows rose and I began to feel this uncomfortable feeling inside me. “What… What do you mean?”   “Don’t you get it, Nia?” He began to sound irritated and annoyed, “I said I’m breaking up with you!”   Tears then started to blur my vision. I shook my head, “I don’t understand. Why all of a sudden?”   “Nothing.” He coldly and heartlessly replied, “I’m done with you. You’re boring.”   My jaw dropped as tears then flowed out of my eyes, “What did I do wrong? Dylan, let’s talk about this. Please.”   “No need.” Why is he this cruel? What did I do? “I don’t like you anymore, Petunia. Not only is your name ugly, but you yourself are also ugly.”   Now that’s just plainly cruel!   “What happened? Why are you being like this?!”   “I said we’re done, Nia!”   “But—”   Beep, beep, beep.   He… hung up on me.   I shook my head. “I can’t believe this…”   I couldn’t stop my tears. This is just too unfair! How come he’s doing this to me? I did my best to make him happy this whole time! He didn’t look like he was bored with me. This is wrong! I don’t believe him!   Wiping my face full of tears, I sniffed and turned around to go back up and meet him. However, I was stopped when my face hit a hard, muscular torso.   I cried more. Not only was my sudden heartbreak painful, but this man’s chest was too hard that I felt like my face hit a cemented wall.   Couldn’t stop myself from crying, I looked up at the person to apologize, only to see that it was someone I didn’t want to see right after my breakup.   “Oh?” Mr. Rose heartlessly spoke as he tilted his head to the side, “A breakup? Poor you.”
