As a vampire slayer, she'd grown accustomed to the city's darker corners, but tonight felt different. The air was thick with an eerie energy, like the whispers of the undead themselves. Her stake, hidden in her corset, felt reassuring against her skin. She'd been tracking a lead on a series of gruesome murders, all linked to an ancient vampire cult. The locals were spooked, and Evie aimed to put an end to the bloodshed. As she turned a corner, a figure emerged from the fog. Tall, dark-haired, and piercingly handsome, he regarded her with an unnerving intensity. "Lord Blackwood," Evie said, her voice steady. "What brings you to these streets?" Cassius Blackwood's smile was enigmatic. "Merely taking in the sights, Miss Stone. Though I sense you're hunting something far more sinister than I." Evie's instincts prickled. What did Cassius know about the cult? And why did she feel an inexplicable pull towards this vampire, of all creatures? "I think we can help each other, Lord Blackwood," Evie said, her mind racing with possibilities. Cassius's eyes gleamed in the dim light. "I think you're right, Miss Stone. Shall we?"
