Chapter 3

227 Words
She had loved David with every fiber of her being, but she realized that love, no matter how strong, couldn't thrive on one side alone. Trust had eroded, replaced by a dull ache of disappointment. She wasn't just losing David; she was losing herself. The decision was heartbreaking, but clear. Amara packed a small bag. She left a note on the kitchen counter, not a long, angry letter, but a simple message: "David, I love you, but I deserve more. I wish you happiness." When David finally came home the next afternoon, expecting Amara to be there, perhaps a little upset but ultimately forgiving, he found the empty apartment. The silence was deafening. He called her phone, but she didn’t answer. His friends, when he told them, just laughed. "Good riddance, man! Now you're finally free!" But David felt a hollow space open up in his chest. He dismissed it as temporary. Amara would come back. She always did. Amara moved to a new city, starting fresh. It was difficult at first, lonely and unfamiliar. She focused on her work, on building new friendships, and on healing her bruised heart. She learned to love herself again, to trust her instincts, and to recognize her worth. She went back to painting, a hobby she had given up for David. One day, at an art exhibition, she met Ethan.
