Chapter 1: The Rival

238 Words
Sana didn’t believe in fate—until the day it trapped her with the one person she swore she’d never forgive. “Move, Kabir.” Her voice was sharp, but he only smirked, leaning against the doorframe of their college library like he owned the place… and her patience. "Still so fiery, Mrs. Soon-to-be Kabir?" he teased, dark eyes gleaming with wicked amusement. "I have to say, marriage suits your temper." She hated the way her stomach twisted when he said that. Marriage. The word hit like a slap every time. One month ago, she was just a final-year student, trying to survive exams and ignore Kabir Mehra—her annoyingly perfect, arrogant rival who always managed to one-up her in everything. Now? She was his fiancée. Forced into an arranged marriage neither of them asked for, thanks to a family debt and a deal between their parents. She said no. He laughed—and said yes. And now she was stuck. “I’m not marrying you because I want to,” Sana snapped, pushing past him. “Good,” Kabir whispered, leaning closer. “Because I’m not planning to be a good husband.” He was close—too close. She could smell his cologne, feel his heat, hear the teasing in his voice. But beneath all of that… was something darker. A tension. A truth he wasn’t saying. And she had no idea what it was.
