Chapter 5 : Mine

693 Words
"Wear the red dress." That was Damien’s text at 4pm. _Why?_ _Because I want everyone to know who you’re with._ I didn’t argue. At 7pm he was at my door. Black suit. No tie. Hair wet. He looked at me and his jaw ticked. "Good girl," he said. The restaurant was packed. His friends. I knew 2 of them. Business guys. Their wives. They all looked up when we walked in. Damien’s hand was on the small of my back. Possessive. "Everyone," he said. Loud. "This is Lena. She’s mine." Silence. Then: "Hi Lena," one of the wives said. Eyes wide. Ethan was already there. At the bar. Whiskey in hand. He saw me. Saw Damien’s hand on me. His glass stopped halfway to his mouth. "Didn’t know you were coming," Damien said to him. Too sweet. "Neither did I," Ethan said. Voice flat. We sat. Damien pulled my chair out. His hand lingered on my thigh under the table. The entire dinner. "How’s the clinic?" one of the guys asked me. "Good," I said. Damien answered for me. "She’s amazing at it. Works too hard." His fingers crept higher. "Damien," I whispered. "Yes, good girl?" The wife next to me was watching. I knew she was. Damien knew too. That’s why he did it. Dessert came. I couldn’t eat. His hand was between my legs now. Over the dress. "Stop," I breathed. "Or what?" he murmured in my ear. "You’ll scream?" I kicked him. He just squeezed. "Feisty." --- We left first. Ethan followed us to the parking lot. "Can we talk?" he said. "No," Damien said. "She’s tired." "I’m talking to her, not you." I looked between them. Damien turned to me. "Your choice." His eyes said _choose me_. "I’m going home with Damien," I said. Ethan flinched like I’d hit him. "Fine," he said. And walked away. In the car Damien didn’t touch me. Not until we were home. The second the door closed he had me against it. "Say it again," he said. "What?" "That you’re mine." "I’m yours." He kissed me. Hard. Desperate. His hands were in my hair, on my dress, everywhere. "Did you like that?" he asked against my mouth. "Me claiming you?" "Yes." "Louder." "Yes!" He picked me up. Carried me to the bedroom. The red dress hit the floor. He took his time. Mouth on my neck. Hands everywhere. "Look at me," he demanded. "I am." "Good. Because I want you to remember who this is." When he was inside me he moved slow. Punishing. "Say my name," he said. "Damien—" "Again." "Damien!" He covered my mouth when I came. "Shh. They’ll hear you." "I don’t care." "I know you don’t." He smiled. "That’s why I love it." After we lay there. Sweating. His phone buzzed. Ethan: _You’re a monster._ Damien didn’t reply. Just tossed the phone. "Stay," he said. "I have to work in the morning." "I’ll wake you up." He pulled me to his chest. "My way." --- He did. At 5am his hand was between my legs and his mouth was on my neck. "Morning, good girl," he whispered. "Damien I have—" "Five minutes." I was late to work. I didn’t care. --- That night there was a knock. Not Damien. Ethan. He looked wrecked. "We need to talk," he said. "There’s nothing to say." "There’s everything to say!" He stepped in. "You’re throwing away 10 years for him? For a guy who uses you?" "He doesn’t use me." "Then what is this?" He gestured around. "f*****g in public? Making you choose?" The back door opened. Damien. "Get out of my house," Damien said. Quiet. Dangerous. "This isn’t your house." "It is tonight." Damien crossed to me. Put his arm around me. "Tell him, Lena." "Tell me what?" Ethan asked. "That you’re staying with me," Damien said. "Don’t," Ethan pleaded. I looked at Damien. At his hand on me. Then at Ethan. Hurting. "I’m staying," I whispered. Ethan left. Slammed the door. Damien turned to me. "Good girl." Then he kissed me like he was proving a point. That night he didn’t let me sleep. Not once.
