Ava kept her hand on Kaden's arm while leading him down the empty hallway away from the clinic. She could feel him trembling beneath her touch which told her he was barely holding himself together. The rage that had consumed him moments ago was fading into something rawer. They walked in silence until Ava found an empty sitting room off the main corridor. She guided Kaden inside before closing the door to give them privacy. The room was dark except for moonlight streaming through the windows, but neither of them moved to light any candles.
