THE RIVALRY REIGNITES

311 Words
Lyra's days blurred into nights as she worked on her next collection, the same passion and pressure she'd felt since art school still driving her. Kiana's name kept popping up – exhibitions, features, interviews. The art world was abuzz with comparisons, bringing back memories of their tense rivalry at the Academy of Arts. Lyra remembered the critiques, the competitions, the nights spent perfecting their craft. It was like the past was repeating itself, but this time, Lyra was determined to come out on top. Zephyr dropped by, his eyes scanning Lyra's chaotic studio. "You need to get out, Lyra. Take a break." He noticed the tension in her shoulders. "Still letting Kiana get under your skin?" Lyra laughed, paint-splattered hands wiping sweat. "She's just a reminder of why I do this – to be better than I was yesterday." Her eyes narrowed, focusing on the canvas. "Kiana's always been about the fame, the recognition. I'm in this for the art." Zephyr's expression turned serious. "Kiana's got a big show in SoHo next week. Are you going?" Lyra's jaw clenched. "You think I care about Kiana's show?" Zephyr shrugged. "Just saying. You should show up. Show her what you're made of." Lyra's eyes narrowed. "You think that's what this is about? Proving something to Kiana?" Zephyr leaned in, his voice low. "It's about what _you_ want, Lyra. Don't let Kiana dictate your moves." He paused, studying her face. "What do you want, Lyra?" The question hung in the air, echoing in Lyra's mind. What did she want? To prove herself, to show the world her worth? Or to create art that mattered? The night of Kiana's show arrived, and Lyra made a decision. ? Will she show up and make a statement, or stay focused on her art? The rivalry was heating up, but Lyra knew the real battle was within herself.
