The night of my eighteenth birthday was supposed to be magical. Instead, I stood trembling in the center of the Moonfire Pack’s ceremony grounds, surrounded by glowing lanterns, half-wild cheers, and the chilling gaze of the one person I’d hoped would save me from this life—Alpha Cade Draven. My fated mate. I smelled him the moment I shifted back into human form. The pull was instant—my soul igniting with a heat I’d never known. My wolf whimpered with joy. His didn’t respond. Cade stood tall, broad shoulders wrapped in a ceremonial cloak, his black eyes unreadable. The entire pack held its breath as he stepped forward. Then his voice, cold and final, sliced through the night. "I, Alpha Cade Draven, reject you, Aria Black, as my mate." The bond snapped. I gasped—like something had been ripped from my chest. Silence. Then whispers. "She’s an omega…" "Why would he want her?" "Pathetic." I couldn’t breathe. My knees buckled, but I didn’t fall. Not here. Not in front of them. He turned his back to me without another word. I stood alone, naked, rejected, broken. And somewhere in the crowd, hidden in shadows, a pair of silver eyes watched me with interest.
