I take Ella in my arms, cuddle her for a minute as I stroke her back softly and I lean in to kiss her goodnight. I set her on her bed, toss my phone and car key in my crossbody purse and I hang it across my shoulder as I walk towards the door. "Go back, Ella," I instruct softly when she tries to squeeze her tiny self through the door as I close it. Sighing, I carefully push her inside and I feel so bad as I shut the door, leaving her all alone. She will have to spend yet another night without me and that makes me feel like the most horrible human in existence. I shake the guilt off me while I cross the small distance to Bri's bedroom, and I am surprised to find it slightly open, I think she forgot to lock it.
