Acceptance After Rejection

Chapter 1

Arista smacked the snooze button on her alarm clock knocking it to the floor by her bed. She hated mornings and was always the last wolf in the packhouse to get out of bed every day. She crawled out of her warm cozy bed and trudged off to the bathroom to jump in the shower before school. The hot water felt nice as it cascaded down her slender body. She quickly washed her hair, which was cut into a short pixie style, it was dark brown with natural sandy blond streaks. Once she had finished washing up, she got out and dried herself, before slipping into her favorite pair of form-fitting jeans, and a tight t-shirt. This outfit was her favorite because it showed off her slender, balanced figure, which she was very proud of.

She grabbed her school back and headed downstairs to leave for school, grabbing a granola bar and to-go mug of coffee left for her by her mother, the pack chef. She jumped into the passenger seat of her best friend's awaiting car and closed the door.

"Morning Cameran," she grumbled and she tossed her bag into the floorboard. He smiled brightly at her. "Goodmorning Sunshine!" he exclaimed. Ever since they were little pups, he had always been very chipper in the mornings. They chatted about last night's English assignment as Cam drove toward the local high school. 

Arista groaned as they parked in the school parking lot. "I'm so glad we only have 3 days left before the end of the year. I'm so done with this school, and all the stuck up snobs here." Cam nodded with a small sigh. They were often picked in by the popular kids and it made things pretty unbearable. "On the plus side, tomorrow is your Birthday! Maybe you will find your mate!" Arista groaned, "don't remind me. What if it's the football captain or the head of the wrestling team?" She climbed out of the car and closed the door before heading toward the school with Cam close behind her. "I have faith that our goddess wouldn't do that to you." Arista just nodded as she got her books out of her locker. "I'll see you after school Cam." They parted ways and headed to their separate classes.

After a long and exhausting day, they met back at Cameran's car to head home. They both looked rather defeated as they climbed into the car. "How bad was it today?" Arista asked with a sigh. "No lunch today, Zack took my lunch money, then Zeke stole my shoes, underwear, and pants from the locker room and threw them in the pool." Arista looked down to find he was wearing gym shorts and borrowed shoes he had gotten from the track coach. She grimaced slightly "Yikes!" he nodded in response as he started the car and headed back toward the packhouse. "How about you?" he asked. "Well, Cassidy dumped her smoothie on my head at lunch and then tripped me on my way to go get cleaned up. Then, in chemistry she 'bumped' the beakers on my station thus breaking them and ruining my lab assignment, so now I have to redo that." Cam just shook his head as they pulled up in front of the packhouse and got out "I'll be glad when we never have to go back there again." They both nodded in agreement. They went to Arista's room to change and get a snack before heading out to the clearing for training. After training, they ate dinner while discussing Arista's birthday plans. "What are you planning for your party tomorrow?" Cam asked with a mouth full of dinner. She chuckled "Luna Grace is planning a big party with a few whole hogs to be roasted, and she is inviting a few of the local ally packs as well!" Cam grinned "WOO! It sounds like it's going to be awesome! and it raises the chances that you will find your mate!" Arista responded with a half grimace, "Yup."

After dinner, they gave each other a hug and went to their own rooms. Arista changed into her PJs she crawled into her bed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day. She drifted off to sleep thinking about the day ahead of her.
