The cave was quiet as someone stepped out of the shadows. She had watched the whole thing unfold as she was too scared to lose her head.
She had dark eyes, though not as dark as Samira, but not as light as the other shadows. She was the girl that instructed them to bring the stranger to the queen.
Stepping closer to the queen, she melted from her waist down as the smell took over the cave.
She bent down to her level and she touched her hands.
Samira felt a pair of cold hands touch her and she immediately clawed on it. Her eyes were dull as she looked like she was in extreme pain.
Lorelei…..you're alive”
She said she twisted her face for a smile. If Lorelei could just drink a potion and put a tiny drop in her mouth, they could exchange bodies and she would be given another chance in life. This time she would make sure she gained revenge on everyone….it was after all not over yet.
“Quick, go get the purple potion and drink then put a drop in my mouth”
Lorelei snapped as she immediately threw the queens hands off hers, why would she want to exchange bodies with her.
The queen's excitement dimmed when she realized that she wasn't going to escape this death. Out of anger she used her last strength to slap her leaving a permanent mark on her face. Suddenly her whole body disintegrated, turning into smelling liquid.
Lorelei winched as she held her face in extreme pain as drops of blood flowed from her face. Seeing the queen’s scarf near the still boiling pot, she immediately carried it and wrapped it around her head. Taking most of the potions she could lay her hands on, she fled into the dark.
The walk back to the palace was silent as no one even dared to breathe loudly. Alpha Ronan was in front of them and it was like there was a dark cloud on his head, and no one wanted any complications with him this evening. He's normally very cold and unapproachable but never in this kind of bad mood.
Lyra was still dazed about what happened that night, but she knew that she was in huge trouble.
“Are you alright?”
Caelin's concerned voice called out, it was like a whisper, but enough for her to catch it.
Turning to her, she looked weak, like a lot of energy had been zapped from her. She looked almost as sick as she did.
“Mmm”
She answered slowly, Caelin must be pretty mad at her, she was given an instruction and she completely disobeyed it.
The walk to the palace was a lot faster than she expected, the universe was really trying to punish her.
Soon enough they were back at the castle and the guards stood in front of Alpha Ronan as they gave him a bow before returning to their posts.
Going in front of the Alpha, Caelin gave a soft bow
“You would be punished accordingly, she was under your care and she escaped, your punishment would start tomorrow”
Ronan said like there was ice in his words, he sounded cold and so angry making Lyra a lot more scared than she originally was…..she was dead meat.
Caelin expected this and didn't even react but when Lyra heard what he told to Caelin, her eyes widened in horror, it was not Caelin's fault that she escaped ... .why would she be punished ... .for her mistakes. Her shoulders slumped as she immediately started to feel guilty.
“Understood”
Caelin said as Ronan nodded, dismissing her. Raising her head she turned her back to meet the guilty eyes of Lyra.
Lyra watched as she silently began to walk out of the throne room, immediately she passed by her side, she couldn't help but mutter a silent sorry.
But Caelin pitied her more, it was never a good sign when he is this upset. And he was rarely ever this upset.
Soon Caelin was out of the room, leaving the boiling Ronan and the very scared Lyra together.
A few minutes passed but neither of them said a word. He just stared at her while she stared at the floor.
“Alpha Ronan….”
“Your training would be on hold immediately, and you are not allowed to leave your room”
He said as her eyes widened, a tear drop immediately fell from her eyes. She knew she was lucky that he didn't kick her out immediately, but somehow she felt so down.
She knew she had messed up big time.
“I understand….but Caelin shouldn't be punished, she didn't know I would leave my room”
For a second she saw his face get more icy as she unintentionally swallowed a gulp of spit.
“You do not question my judgement Lyra”
He said quietly, his icy eyes looking dead into hers, his patience was running thin. She just didn't want Caelin to be punished for her own recklessness.
But she forgot who she was dealing with, a demon. Looking up, she had no expression on her face as she quietly bowed down.
“I understand Alpha Ronan”
She said before walking out of the room leaving him alone in the darkness.
“She's just learning, aren't you being too strict”
Elder Darius appeared from the shadows as he watched Ronan stare at the dark sky through the large window.
“I've been too lenient, she needs to know that there are rules she must follow”
He said coldly as the elder just nodded his head and joined him to stare at the dark abyss.
“The witches must be planning their revenge”
Ronan wasn't shocked that the elder knew that he encountered them today, he has a way of perceiving unusual scents.
“It won't be long till they form an attack”
The elder said as he turned to face the Alpha.
“It's better that she is prepared, so that she won't be found lacking”
Ronan still didn't comment as the elder kept talking. He was correct, but he still wasn't going to lift the ban
