Ronan still didn't comment as the elder kept talking. He was correct, but he still wasn't going to lift the ban
Elder Darius knew that the Alpha doesn't take back his words as he gave a small smile.
“I'll send all the books to her room, she'll have to learn from there”
Ronan gave a small nod of approval, as the elder left the alpha. Darius often worried for Ronan, he looked too cold, he knew that the pain was eating him from inside.
The look on Lyra's face haunted Ronan more than he would admit. It was pale and helpless, her eyes were empty…. They looked so much like Seraphina.
He clenched his jaw as the memory of his late mate would never leave him, he would forever be eaten by guilt.
Standing beside the window, the soft knock brought me back to reality as I softly hummed an enter
The events of yesterday left me still shaking. It was like from one battle to the other.
She couldn't even get a good night's rest as the events of the former day flooded her head. It seemed like the creature knew Ronan.
But she felt it went deeper than that. She loathed him. Not just him, but the entire wolf generation.
Female servants walked into my room with different trays in their hands, how could I forget I was on house arrest, placing them on the dressing table, the butler walked in behind them giving me a soft nod in greeting. He did not look at my face for one more second, but I could feel the lingered stares of the maids.
Not sleeping the whole night, running into the thick forest, when I was still recovering from the earlier battle, getting poisoned till I was unconscious, and watching Alpha Ronan kill tiny ugly creatures that called themselves the shadows, must have taken a toll on me and made me weak.
But seeing as they were staring at me in a manner that they thought I wouldn't notice, I had a feeling that there was more to the story.
“The Alpha said you should have your breakfast and get ready for your classes”
The butler said as my eyes lit up, so Alpha Ronan isn't as cruel as he presents himself, he would still let her see the walls outside her bedroom. She wondered why he changed his mind as she heard it was extremely hard to, but it didn't matter, if it meant that she'll not be stuck here, she was more than grateful.
“The Elder would attend to you shortly and you are instructed to wait for him in your room till he does”
Elder…..her brows raised up in confusion, before it dawned on her. She wasn't leaving the room for classes, the classes would be brought to her. Her face slumped in disappointment.
Ignoring her disappointed face, the butler gave a signal to the maidens as they all slowly left her room.
Staring at the food, she sat down as she slowly started eating. She was starving, everything made her weak and hungry and she couldn't help but eat almost everything in sight. She felt her food was larger than normal, but quickly dismissed the thought. Alpha Ronan was too angry to give her a large portion.
Laying down on her bed, she felt like she had been in here for hours with and the only faces she saw were the butlers and servants taking her food tray out of the room….this punishment would be harder than she thought. Her mind drifted off to Caelin, she was suffering because of her, the guilt was eating her inside out.
‘knock’
The soft knock brought me back to reality as I quickly sprung up from the bed, a tiny part of me hoped it was Alpha Ronan, but at this point seeing any face would have to do.
“May I come in”
The deep familiar voice sounded as my high hopes were suddenly brought down….how could she forget that the elder would be handling her classes today.
Arranging herself she opened the door to see the wrinkled but hearty face of the elder. Giving him a soft smile, she made way for him to enter the room.
“Don't mind me….”
He said chuckling as he made himself comfortable on the bed.
He was the wisest wolf in the kingdom, and the oldest. He commanded a great deal of respect from kings of other supernaturals, yet he was just a sweet old man.
“Thoughts……they can get very loud”
He said when he noticed I had blanked out. I snapped as I turned to him with widened eyes…. could he hear my thoughts….
“No I can't hear them….but I don't need to, your expressions speak louder than you ever can”
He said as he placed the big book on the bed
“Come Lyra, tell me about yourself”
He said as he ushered me to sit on the bed with him.
Myself…..
Going to sit with him on the bed, I gave out a soft smile. No one had ever asked her that question, her life was only filled with drama, she sometimes forgot to live a little.
“I'm quite boring Elder Darius”
I said as I gave a sad chuckle.
“Perhaps, but you have no one to talk to anyway, so share your boredom with me”
My face froze in annoyance, I thought this was a simple old man, I didn't know he had a sharp tongue.
“Go on….”
*****
Alpha Damien stared at the food, lost in his thoughts as he tapped the table in annoyance.
He thought when he rejected Lyra, she would be termed as an outcast, a lost cause that no one would dare touch. But when he saw her, fighting side by side with his biggest opponent, one he could never beat no matter how hard he tried, he somehow felt betrayed. She was meant to be his Luna, she had no right to be in their clan, she was meant to beg for his mercy, until he accepted her. He should have known something was up when he rejected her and she immediately turned away.
He was Alpha Damien, the alpha of the Blackwood Pack, an irritable charming man who had women fall at his feet daily. He would make sure that she regrets every decision she had ever made.
