Chapter three

Steve's pov. There is nothing more important to me than signing the deal with Neversoft Enterprises. I have been looking forward to it since my first meeting with them. With their exceptional technology and my vision, something beautiful could blossom and my company's profit will shoot through the roof. Unfortunately, before I could finalize the deal, I was directed to hold a meeting with their family oriented board and that was where everything started to go downhill. Apparently, the kind of deal I wanted with them, required me to have a family of my own in order to prove that I can handle the responsibilities about to be bestowed upon me. In other words, I had to get married. It made absolutely no sense to me, but it was their protocol and I must oblige. Personally, I would forfeit the deal and move on with my life but this deal is worth so much and I can't let go that easily. Having no other choice, I decided to get married, but I had to do it fast because I was only given three months to make all of that happen. The past two months however, have been nothing but a fruitless search for the right person. I went on so many blind dates, but none of them fit the description of what I wanted. Finally, just at the nick of time, I found a lady who fit all my descriptions.. Annabelle Torres. She wasn't only beautiful, she was intelligent and witty, someone who could represent me in public as my wife and not disgrace my company and I. But here lies the problem, she isn't willing to sign the contract and be my wife. Maybe it was because I didn't explain things well enough to her. The contract is only going to last for three years, she'll be free to go after that. “Do you think she'll come back?” Alexia asked, coming into my office after Annabelle stormed off in anger. “I have a feeling that she will be back. After all, she doesn't have a choice.” I chuckled. “You sound so sure, sir.” “Let's wait and watch.” I wouldn't say I am completely certain of her return, but it is highly possible that she would come back and accept the deal. I mean, she would never be able to find such a fair deal anywhere else. “Tell the other ladies to leave, they're not needed anymore.” I instructed before pulling out a few files to work on. Soon, it was time to call it a day and I decided to go to my favorite club for the night. I needed to cool off, I've been working non-stop all week and my head was badly clogged up. I arrived at the club an hour after leaving the office, taking my place at the VIP section as usual. I was busy enjoying the sight of the various strippers dancing in front of me when I sighted a familiar face heading my way. “Annabelle Torres?” I chuckled, shaking my head in pity. She dropped the champagne bottle in her hand and then the glasses before turning to leave, looking embarrassed. “This is what you've decided to do? Work as a server at a club?” I laughed and she turned to me with a piercing glare. She looked like she was going to rip my head off and it made me happy to see her upset and frustrated. “At least I'm keeping my dignity.” “Dignity?” I scoffed. “Your dignity is not going to pay your sister's bills. She'll die right in front of your eyes and you'll blame yourself for her death for the rest of your life!” “Don't cross your boundaries!” She yelled with widened eyes, brimming with tears. “I will never be your wife!” She added. “You talk as if you're the most beautiful woman in the world and I want you so badly. I've had hotter bitches on my bed so don't place yourself so high. What I want is a contract marriage.” She blinked at me in confusion, the rage in her eyes vanishing immediately. “You only have to be my wife for three years, then we'll get a divorce and go our separate ways. I want nothing else to do with you after that.” I gulped down the glass of wine in my hand. “I am not interested.” Her voice was low this time around. “Think about it Annabelle Torres, your sister's life is on the line.” “You know the right thing to do.” I smirked and ignored her until she stormed off again. It's a good thing I met her here, perhaps, my little statement will be enough to manipulate her into signing the contract. I need her to agree to this, I must sign that deal with Neversoft Enterprises. I could find someone else, but there's something about a lady who gets you to chase her that I love so much. Also, I would love to crush her self esteem, and the dignity she speaks so highly about. ~~~~ “Good morning sir.” Alexia greeted me with a smile as soon as I walked into her office that morning. I nodded at her, too exhausted to speak. I think I might have had too much to drink at the club last night. My head still hurts from the terrible hangover and I am twenty minutes late to work which is unlike me. “You don't look well. Do you need me to get coffee for you?” She offered. “That would be nice.” “Alright sir. There's someone waiting in your office, sir.” She informed me and I nodded before making my way into my office. I was stunned to find Annabelle as soon as I stepped into my office. I kept a straight face and walked over to my desk, taking my seat and pulling out my laptop. She still didn't say a word, she just stared at me, looking rather uneasy. “What do you want?” I had to ask as I was already getting agitated. “I have a lot of clients to meet today so be quick about it.” I added, taking short glances at her. “I'm ready to be your wife.” My lips stretched into a smile.
