After the call with my father ended, the room wasn’t peaceful or calm, it felt strangely quiet. Just quiet in the kind of way that made thoughts louder,
I stood at that same position, staring at nothing in particular while the conversation with Dad replayed itself repeatedly inside my head. The woman wasn’t Daniela but she had the number… she had the device used to threaten me. Yet somehow she wasn’t Daniela, nothing about that made sense. Who could be playing this dangerous game if not them? Why would the stranger refuse to explain? Why ask for a lawyer immediately if you hadn’t done anything wrong? And if she wasn’t Daniela… then where exactly was Daniela or Ken? All of these made absolutely no sense.
