Lisa’s POV The rest of the day passed quietly, but not idly. The maid returned twice, once to replace the ice and bring the medication, the other to bring dinner. Each time… careful, respectful and compassionate. “Ma’am, your medicine.” “Thank you.” “Please take it after eating.” “I already did.” A small nod. “Good.” Later… she helped adjust the pillows again, repositioned my leg. Checked the swelling. “Is it worse?” I asked at one point, she shook her head gently. “No, ma’am. It’s stabilizing.” “That’s good.” “Yes.” A pause. Then… “You’ll be alright in a few days.” I nodded.
