Ethan’s POV The last time I was in California, I was seven years old. Old enough to remember blood, too young to understand why grown men wanted me dead. I sat quietly in the backseat of the black SUV as the city lights blurred past the window, my fingers resting loosely against my knee while exhaustion settled heavily into my bones.
